Position Title: Chief Accounting Officer

Summary
The Chief Accounting Officer is responsible for developing, establishing, and maintaining a strong financial organization for the Company, setting performance standards, and assuring accounting personnel are properly directed and qualified to fulfill their job responsibilities.
Responsible for accurate and timely accounting and reporting of financial information for internal purposes, as well as information required by external parties, including the Securities and Exchange Commission, Internal Revenue Service, and lenders. Responsibilities also include formulating and implementing accounting policies and procedures, ensuring ongoing compliance with requirements for internal control over financial reporting, providing direction for the tax accounting and compliance functions, providing oversight over the accounting functions of the company’s various subsidiaries, assisting with the oversight of the financial planning and analysis function, and assisting with the oversight of other various corporate functions.
This role requires an individual with 1) a fervent attention to detail, internal controls, and processes, 2) problem-solving skills, and 3) analytical capabilities. Further, this individual will interact regularly with the senior management teams of BBX Capital and its subsidiaries and must also thrive in a fast-paced and energic environment.
Specific Duties, Activities and Responsibilities
· Develop and maintain an adequate internal control structure and procedures for financial reporting.
· Maintain comprehensive set of accounting policies and documented controls to ensure compliance with GAAP and SOX.
· Coordinate and direct all areas of the Company’s corporate accounting function, including but not limited to accounts payable, tax reporting, monthly close, cash management, consolidation of subsidiary financial information, preparation of financial statements, and internal and external audits.
· Develop departmental goals that support the Company’s overall short and long-term strategies and objectives.
· Coordinate services with registered public accounting firm, tax advisors, and internal audit/SOX consultants.
· Supervise the development, implementation, and integration of financial information and control systems, including general ledger, budgeting, POS, fixed asset, accounts payable, and other subsystems.
· Analyze and interpret statistical and accounting information to Senior Management in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters that could potentially have a bearing on the company‘s financial position or operating results.
· Assisting with the oversight of the financial planning and analysis function, including providing analysis of ongoing results against forecasted results and participating in the annual budget and quarterly reforecast process.
· Assist in the oversight of the company’s treasury functions.
· Develop management policies for the financial control function.
· Oversee the analysis and calculations of fair values for GAAP accounting and reporting, such as for disclosure purposes and in connection with business activities (inventory valuations, business combination values, goodwill and intangible impairment assessments, stock option valuations, etc.). Ensure regular valuation efforts are developed and adhered to for key risk areas.
· Comply with external reporting requirements administered by the SEC, including quarterly and annual reports, proxy statements and voting materials for annual meeting.
· Assist in maintaining good working relationships with banks, financial institutions, and investment firms.
· Review and ensure maintenance of stock compensation information under stock compensation plans, including filings with the SEC.
· Ensure consolidation of Company’s subsidiary financial statements and review results on an ongoing basis to ensure i) proper recording and completeness and ii) provide analysis and insight to senior management.
· Review Company debt agreements to ensure timely repayment and compliance with financial covenants
· Evaluate Company lease arrangements with regard to appropriate accounting treatment.
· Establish and maintain a culture of continuous improvement and efficiency in the accounting department.

Job Requirements
1 – Minimum Formal Education:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance
· Master of Business Administration or Master’s degree in a related field preferred.
2 – Minimum Experience:
· Minimum ten (10) years of experience providing leadership in the development of a strong financial organization through ensuring accurate and timely reporting of accounting
· Public company and national CPA firm experience
· Transactional accounting experience (e.g., acquisitions, dispositions, etc.) preferred
· Experience with oversight of functions outside of accounting (finance, treasury, IT, etc.) preferred
3 – Professional Skills / Competencies and Essential Training, Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications, and/or:
· Certified Public Accountant
· Knowledge of GAAP, SEC rules and requirements, tax accounting and compliance, and financial information systems
· Knowledge of internal control over financial reporting and establishment of policies and procedures across organizations

Pay: $220,000.00 - $250,000.00 per year
