Summary
Under the general direction of the Director of Special Events & Theatre, develops, plans and implements a variety of programs and leads the day-to-day business operations for The Addison Theatre Centre. Provides leadership and facilitates efforts of department staff to activate the facility’s multiple uses, execute high quality programs, book and schedule events/activities, implement new working procedures, formalize partnerships and manage a facility rental program. Assists in soliciting and activating cash and in-kind sponsorships and partnerships. Manages special projects as assigned.
Essential Functions
- Curate artistic content by selecting and presenting artists and arts organizations to perform at The Addison Theatre Centre.
- Produce signature events in collaboration with the Special Events Department and activate all performance spaces of the facility outside of the Town produced special events.
- Serve as the primary liaison between The Addison and outside users, vendors and community members such as resident companies and facility renters, including negotiating and executing rental agreements, ensuring that both the Town and users fulfill their contractual obligations.
- Identify and recruit qualified organizations to rent the performance spaces at The Addison as well as coordinate the supervision and support of users while they are in the space.
- Develop knowledge of and manage in-house technical systems, as needed.
- Represent The Addison to the arts and culture community in the Town of Addison and the greater Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan areas, as well as state and nationwide as appropriate, including at the Association of Performing Arts Presenters (APAP) conference.
- Support the marketing of events at The Addison Theatre Centre, under the guidance of the Director of Special Events & Theatre and in collaboration with the Marketing and Tourism offices.
- Support the maintenance and capital improvement projects of The Addison Theatre Centre in collaboration with the General Services Department.
- Develop the annual budget for The Addison, control expenditures, and monitor performance to meet performance and revenue goals.
- Formalize an event calendar, fee structure, and related services to encourage rentals; manage all contracts, rental agreements, and related budgeting.
- Provide supervision to assigned staff; oversee all hiring, training, evaluating, disciplining, and terminating of personnel within the facility.
- Develop, plan and implement goals and objectives; provide leadership, direction, and guidance in operational strategies; determine priorities and resource requirements.
- Oversee content of The Addison Performing Arts Centre website.
- Represent the Town at public and private meetings and conferences.
- Prepare and present periodic written and oral reports to City Management, community groups, and the public.
- May be asked to perform additional job duties that are directly, indirectly or completely unrelated to normal job functions in support of Town special events.
- Performs related duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in performing arts discipline, Arts Administration, Business Administration or Public Administration; AND
- Five (5) years of directly related supervisory experience in producing and presenting live performances for arts/cultural organizations, preferably in a municipal or non-profit setting; OR
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Conditions of Employment:
- Safe driving record and valid Texas Driver’s License.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of office and business policies, procedures, and practices.
- Knowledge of negotiation and problem-solving methods, techniques, and practices.
- Knowledge of theatre management and staff supervisory practices. Available and willing to prioritize as necessary to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by schedule demands.
- Knowledge of computerized ticket sales, digital inventory management, and venue operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Design software.
- Knowledge of applicable local, State, and Federal laws, codes, ordinances, and regulations.
- Skill in working on multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Skill in writing project specifications, contracts, and procedures with high level of attention to detail.
- Skill in working efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and multiple organizational partnerships.
- Skill in communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Skill in customer service, conflict resolution and problem solving.
- Skill in representing the Town professionally and diplomatically in relationships with partners and the public.
PHYSICAL AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a standard office environment. Work is generally performed indoors in an air-conditioned facility but may also include limited exposure to outside weather conditions. Employee will need to be able to work in outdoor weather conditions for extended periods of time. Employee should be able to lift, at a minimum, 30 pounds at any given time. May occasionally be expected to attend evening meetings and weekend special events.
This is an exempt position; incumbent will be expected to work whatever hours are necessary to complete responsibilities.
