Our neurology department is based in Haugesund. Currently, we have 7 neurologists (senior consultants) and 8 trainees (junior consultants becoming neurologists). We have a position for an 8th neurologist.
The department consists of a ward with 14 beds, including our stroke unit with 6 beds; an out-patient clinic with general and specialized clinics, and the EEG laboratory.
We have the possibility for neurography and EMG as well as EP, but we have no neurophysiologist at the moment. The department participates in several clinical research projects. At the hospital, we have an outstanding radiology department with MRI, CT, and nuclear medicine including DaTscan. We also have good cooperation with the other departments in our hospital and with the neurosurgery department at the University Hospital in Bergen. Neurophysiology is currently served from the University Hospital in Stavanger.
