What you’ll be doing…
This University of Texas at Dallas Co-op position, which is part of the Verizon Campus Program, will allow you to channel your drive and enthusiasm as part of a 6-month rotation from January 13, 2025, to July 11, 2025, working a full-time schedule. You’ll be front and center, hands-on, and contributing your creative energy to high-impact projects from the moment you arrive.
As a Co-op with the Network Security team, some of the projects you may work on could enhance your skills in one or more of the following areas:
- Familiarity with multiple operating systems (Linux and Windows).
- Python, Java, Javascript/Typescript, React, NodeJs, NextJs expert systems software & Software Automation (eg. ML, AI, IA, RPA, Ansible).
- System Administration & Network Management: (e.g.OS level, design, install, and maintenance hardware/software, patching vulnerabilities management, troubleshooting, monitoring, system upgrade, etc).
- Database Administration & Management: (e.g. Oracle SQL, MySQL, MS SQL, etc.).
- Information assurance and intrusion prevention.
- Cloud Security infrastructure, policies & standards, cloud vendor assessment, and security configuration.
- Data Administration & Security Data classifications, loss prevention (DLP), privacy, and incident review.
- Identity & Access Management (e.g., Authentication, authorization, and accounting framework, Multi-Factor Authorization-MFA, SAML 2.0, SSO, LDAPs/Directories, Active Directory).
- Incident Response incident management, triage (RCA).
- Network Security external/internal network security and perimeter security.
You must be currently enrolled in a qualifying bachelor’s degree program at the University of Texas at Dallas and be in good academic standing to be considered.
This Co-op position will be based out of Richardson, TX, and follow a hybrid work schedule as set by the manager, including work-from-home and intentional in-person days. If relocation is required, relocation assistance may be available.

You’ll need to have:
- Ability to participate in our 6-month co-op that takes place from January 13, 2025, to July 11, 2025, working a full-time schedule.
- Current enrollment in a University of Texas at Dallas Bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science, Engineering, Telecommunications, Wireless Technologies, High-Frequency Design, Artificial Intelligence, or a related major with an expected completion date between December 2025 and June 2026.
- Coursework or demonstrated experience in scripting and coding (ex: Python, Java, React, NodeJS, NextJS, Javascript/Typescript).
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for future sponsorship.
- Willingness to travel and work in an assigned Verizon office.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
- Demonstrated strong written and communication skills.
- Experience in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.
- Proficiency in binary analysis.
- Knowledge of Network & Security protocols (ex: TCP/IP).
- Knowledge of Identity & Access Management Centralize IAM Protocols: MFA, TACACS+, Radius, SAML 2.0/Single SignOn, Password Safes/Storage.
- Familiarity with code versioning tools like Git.
- Knowledge of REST fundamentals, API design patterns, and best practices.
- Knowledge of Threat Management and Incident Response (ex: Splunk).
- Knowledge of fraud identification, key management, OAuth, and OpenID.
- Knowledge of cloud infrastructure, policies, & standards, and security configurations.
- Understanding of penetration testing.
