About the Position: Our client is a prominent land development firm based in Charlotte, NC, specializing in site designs for various sectors. As they continue to grow, they are looking to appoint a Senior Civil Engineer who will also serve as the Engineering Department Head in the Charlotte office. This role is crucial as it marks the creation of a new position aimed at steering the engineering efforts to new heights.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the engineering department, setting strategic direction and ensuring the delivery of high-quality site design projects.
- Oversee all phases of land development projects from conception through completion, including planning, design, and implementation.
- Ensure projects meet all technical specifications, budgets, timelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Foster a collaborative environment and mentor engineering staff to promote professional growth and technical excellence.
- Serve as the primary technical expert and point of contact for major clients and stakeholders, ensuring their needs are met and relationships are strengthened.
- Collaborate with other department heads and senior management to align engineering strategies with company goals.
- Develop and implement best practices, innovative solutions, and quality control measures.
- Play a pivotal role in business development activities by contributing technical expertise during proposal preparation and client presentations.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in civil engineering, with at least 10 years post-PE licensure.
- Must be a currently practicing Land Development Civil Site Engineer based in Charlotte, NC (Mecklenburg County).
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field. A Master’s Degree is a plus.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Proven leadership experience and the ability to manage a diverse team of engineers.
- Extensive knowledge of local regulations, standards, and permitting processes specific to Charlotte and surrounding areas.
- Strong project management skills with a demonstrated ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
