About Nora’s Home: Nora's Home is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing a supportive and comfortable home away from home for organ transplant patients and their families. Our mission is to offer transplant patients and their families an affordable place to stay where they can find support and share experiences with others, in the comfort of a home-like environment.
Position Overview: The Nora’s Home Executive Director (ED) provides the strategic leadership for Nora’s Gift Foundation, Inc. The ED works primarily with and through the Board of Directors to advance the organization’s mission and achieve its goals and objectives in accordance with the vision and strategic plans established by the Board of Directors. The ED is a non-voting executive officer of the organization, responsible for overseeing the following areas: strategic planning, policy, finance, fundraising/development, public/community relations, operations, construction, policy, volunteer programs, and human resources.

Professional Qualifications:
Minimum Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree with five or more years senior Nonprofit Management or related field with a minimum of three years of supervisory/management experience. Advanced degree and knowledge of the organ donor and transplant process preferred.
- Solid, hands-on, budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting.
- Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development, and task facilitation.
- Ability to convey Nora’s Home vision to staff, board, volunteers and donors.
- Proficient computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Ability to quickly learn additional software programs like QuickBooks and Hospitality Housekeeper.
Skills & Competencies:
- Experience in management or working in a nonprofit organization and fundraising preferred
- Familiarity with grant writing/grant writing process
- Strong financial acumen and budget management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders including ability to lead and motivate a diverse team
- General understanding of healthcare environment and knowledge of the medical transplant process and patient needs, particularly in transplant care
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to service delivery

General Responsibilities
Board Governance (25% of role): The ED works collaboratively with the Board of Directors to ensure operations are consistent with the vision and mission of Nora’s Home.
- Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to make informed decisions.
- Responsible for working with the Chairman and Vice Chair(s) of the board to conduct and manage the business and affairs of the organization, and jointly, with designated officers, to execute legal documents.
Financial Performance and Viability (25% of role): The ED is responsible for developing resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization.
- Responsible for the fiscal integrity of Nora’s Home, to include submission to the board of a proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements which accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization.
- Responsible for fiscal management and monitoring financial performance to assure the organization operates within the approved budget, ensuring maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial condition.
- Oversee and manage the bookkeeper and auditors to produce reports in a timely manner, such as the annual audit, 990, and 1099s.
Fundraising (25% of role): The ED oversees funding opportunities and participates in philanthropic events that further the fundraising efforts of the organization.
- Plans for increasing the donor base by identifying individual, corporation, and foundation prospects for solicitation and relationship-building.
- Build and maintain relationships with comparable nonprofit organizations, healthcare providers, transplant centers, and support organizations, both locally (e.g., Ronald McDonald House, Hope Lodge, and Halo House) and in other states (e.g., Howie’s House and Clyde F. Barker Penn Transplant House in Philadelphia, and Family House in Pittsburgh).
- Responsible for setting dollar and solicitation goals as agreed upon with the board, and meeting with foundations and individual contacts. The ED will be knowledgeable about Nora’s Home’s strategic plan and periodically report tangible progress; and possess the ability to articulate this to the community, contributors, and potential contributors.
Human Resources (15% of role): The ED takes responsibility to ensure the recruitment of qualified and dedicated individuals who are trained, engaged, and well-equipped to provide services and meet the needs of guests. The ED fosters and promotes a culture among the staff that fits the values of the organization.
- Responsible for determining staffing requirements for organizational management and program delivery.
- Responsible for the hiring and retention of competent, qualified staff. Either directly or through appropriate staff, the ED hires, trains, or evaluates all staff and volunteers.
- Implements a performance management process for all staff, which includes monitoring the performance of staff on an on-going basis and conducting regular performance reviews.
- Oversees the implementation of the human resources policies, orientation, training, procedures and practices, including the development of job descriptions for all staff members.
Operations of Nora’s Home (10% or role): The ED oversees and implements appropriate resources to ensure that the operations of the physical home, property, and equipment for the home are maintained to provide a safe and comfortable environment for the guests.
- Responsible for overseeing the Nora’s Home Operations Manager to develop, organize, and implement the daily operation of the home by applying hotel industry best practices and by using hospitality standards that cater to the unique needs of transplant patients.
- Responsible for approval of all contracts for services.
