Position Overview
As a Maternal Fetal Medicine Faculty member, you will:
- Provide specialized care to high-risk obstetric patients across three physical locations.
- Engage in teaching activities for medical students, residents, and fellows.
- Participate in clinical and/or basic science research, with opportunities for leadership roles in ongoing projects.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient care and outcomes.
Clinical Assignments
- Hospital Service: Responsibilities include rounding on antepartum patients, consults, and procedures such as cerclage.
- Center for Maternal and Fetal Care: This center is the only unit in Mississippi for advanced diagnosis and treatment of complicated pregnancies. It offers collaborative care between maternal-fetal medicine specialists and pediatric specialists and surgeons.
- Women's Specialty Clinic: This clinic houses MFM, Urogynecology, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and Pediatric Gynecology clinics. It features three ultrasound rooms for MFM, offering targeted ultrasound and maternal medical consultation in coordination with referring providers.
- OB Gyn Clinic at the Jackson Medical Mall: Faculty staff the OB High Risk clinic on Mondays and Thursdays, providing ultrasound and longitudinal prenatal care for high-risk women. The facility includes eight exam rooms and three ultrasound machines.
Required Qualifications
- MD/DO degree (or equivalent)
- Successfully completed a 4-year ACGME accredited Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program
- Completed an ABOG recognized Maternal Fetal Medicine fellowship program
- Board Certified/Board Eligible in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal Fetal Medicine
- Eligible for Unrestricted Medical Licensure by the Mississippi State Medical Board
Research and Education Opportunities
- Research: Faculty have opportunities to engage in research, coordinated through the department's PhD and research coordinator. The department is actively hiring additional research nurses to support ongoing projects.
- Education: Faculty are involved in educational activities at the medical student, resident, and fellow levels, contributing to the training of the next generation of healthcare professionals.
