Position Summary:
This is an Advanced Practice Professional (APP) job opening. Both qualified/experienced NP and PA applicants will be considered, as well as new graduates.
The Advanced Practice Professional will provide health care and specialized health services to patients and families enrolled in Cardiology Medicine. The APP will coordinate care of this patient population in collaboration with all members of the health care team. This position will be split between outpatient and inpatient, with 8-10-hour shifts. Contingent position will cover for open shifts for IP/OP depending on the need. Clinic patient and rounding on inpatient.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with physician(s), APP will provide independent acute and/or routine medical care to patients and families enrolled in Cardiology Medicine.
- Writes appropriate orders, if/when applicable.
- Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods.
- Coordinates the activities of patient care and support staff within the clinic.
- Writes progress notes in EMR indicating patient status and treatment procedures performed.
- Provides health education to patients, families, and/or community health practitioners and groups.
- Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
- May perform clinical research related to specific operations.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Education/Experience Required:
Master's degree in nursing.
Certifications/Licensures Required:
Current certification as a Certified Nurse Practitioner. Current State license as a Registered Nurse. Current BLS. Current ACLS/ATLS/PALS provider status as required by department.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Education/Training:
- NP - Completion of a Nurse Practitioner training program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC).
- PA - Completion of a Physician Assistant training program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).
Continuing Education:
- Applicant must have sufficient education credits to maintain licensure as required by the applicable State of Michigan licensing board.
Certification:
- NP - Certification by a certification body recognized by the State of Michigan.
- PA - Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
Other:
- Michigan License, or in process of applying (must have proof of application).
- No previous experience required.
Qualifications:
- Education/Training
