Position Overview:
Henry Ford Health Jackson is seeking a dedicated and skilled Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) specializing in Neurosurgery to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background in neurological care, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care. Open to new graduates, with experience in ICU or neurosurgical experience/backgrounds.
Schedule: 40 hours, weekend coverage - Day shift.

Key Responsibilities:
Patient Assessment and Management
- Conduct thorough patient histories and physical examinations.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients' clinical problems and health care needs.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate treatment plans in collaboration.
Clinical Documentation
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters, treatment plans, and outcomes in electronic health records (EPIC).
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Patient and Family Education
- Educate patients and their families on surgical procedures, recovering expectations, medication management, and lifestyle modifications.
- Address patient and family concerns with empathy and provide ongoing support.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with the neurosurgical team, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of patient care protocols and quality improvement initiatives.

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Specialty/Invasive Nurse Practitioner (NP) will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. The Specialty/Invasive NP will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, consultation, and care coordination as a first line provider to patients and their families. Provides inpatient and/or outpatient medical care. Works in collaboration with attending physicians, advanced practice providers, consultants, house officers, nurses, and other members of the medical care team to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved safely and efficiently. Specific procedures as per credentialing as indicated by training and experience. Works in one of the following departments: Cardiovascular Medicine, Emergency Medicine, ICU, Interventional Radiology, Nephrology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Oncology, Orthopedics, Otolaryngology, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Surgery, Urgent Care, Urology.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Master's degree in nursing.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: Current certification as a Certified Nurse Practitioner. Current State license as a Registered Nurse. Current BLS. Current ACLS/ATLS/PALS provider status as required by department.
Qualifications:
- NP - Completion of a Nurse Practitioner training program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC).
- PA - Completion of a Physician Assistant training program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).
- NP - Certification by a certification body recognized by the State of Michigan.
- PA - Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
Licensure and Certification:
- Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Michigan, or in process of applying (must have proof of application).
- National certification as an NP or PA (e.g., ANCC, AANP, NCCPA).
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- DEA/CSL, required through credentialing.
Experience:
- ICU or Neurosurgical experience/backgrounds.
- EPIC Experience, preferred.
