Responsibilities
- Receives, identifies, organizes and prioritizes specimens to ensure accurate and timely test processing.
- Performs and reports requested laboratory procedures.
- Performs quality control, proficiency testing, routine instrument maintenance and inventory control.
- Evaluates positive patient identification to reduce analytical and post-analytical error and/or adverse patient outcomes.
- Assesses, evaluates and draws appropriate conclusions.
- Evaluates technical methods and procedures.
- Executes effective and efficient Laboratory operations.
- Supports lifelong learning.
- Completes assigned goals.
- Provides instruction for personnel and medical technology students, as required.
Requirements, Preferences and Experience
EducationMinimum: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related field required.
ExperiencePreferred: Hospital experience preferred.
Minimum: 1 year of Healthcare/Medical-Medical/Clinical Laboratory Technologist experience required.
Licensure, Registration, CertificationPreferred: ASCP
Minimum: License/Certification (valid for state of MS): ASCP or AMT certification as Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) required, or discipline-specific ASCP or AMT certification for non-generalist positions required.
Special SkillsMinimum: Basic computer literacy skills.
