About this position:
We are seeking a dedicated and hard-working strategy and program management consultant to join our team. In this role you will support the technical coordination of the implementation of the new IDB Group Institutional Strategy and participate in key strategic initiatives.
You will work with the Strategy Monitoring Division (SMO) of the Office of Strategic Planning and Development Effectiveness (SPD). SPD’s team is responsible, among others, for:
- Leading, coordinating, and monitoring the IDB Group’s Institutional Strategy.
- Leading the implementation of the IDB’s Development Effectiveness Framework.
- Assessing the evaluability and development effectiveness of IDB operations.
- Monitoring the performance of the IDB’s portfolio.
- Designing and reviewing the IDB’s lending instruments.
- Leading project capacity-building related to development effectiveness.
- Conducting strategic, corporate, and operational research.
- Gathering, analyzing, and reporting data to recommend best practices or new courses of action to improve the IDB’s overall performance and transparency.
What you’ll do:
The selected candidate will support the coordination of the implementation of the Institutional Strategy and contribute to strategic initiatives within SMO’s work program. You will be expected to perform the following activities:
- Support the overall reform implementation program to deliver the expected outcomes identified in the Institutional Strategy.
- Lead regular check-ins with working groups and establish sound reporting and escalation mechanisms to identify and resolve roadblocks and facilitate real-time coordination and reporting.
- Maintain project management tools, dashboards, and documents to support day-to-day reporting and coordination efforts.
- Convene stakeholders across the IDB Group.
- Develop strategic assessments and analyses.
- Develop strategic documents, presentations, and reporting materials to support meetings with senior management and the Board of Executive Directors.
- Participate in other key strategic activities within SMO, including developing strategic and technical documents and coordinating strategic initiatives and processes.
What you'll need:
- Education: Master’s degree in public administration, business management, international development, or other fields relevant to the role's responsibilities.
- Experience: At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in program or project management, strategy, management consulting, advisory or similar roles in the public, corporate, or international development sector.
- Languages: Ability to read, write, and speak English and Spanish.
Key skills:
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience managing projects/programs, including using management tools, communicating results to senior leadership, planning, identifying and escalating issues, and driving end-to-end delivery.
- Experience working cross-functionally and managing multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization.
- Ability to communicate and influence senior audiences, particularly through high-quality executive presentations.
- Strong analytical, qualitative, and problem-solving skills.
Requirements:
- Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries.
- Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
Type of contract and duration:
- Type of contract: International Consultant Full-Time
- Length of contract: 24 months, renewable for up to 12 months, for a maximum of 36 months.
