THE ROLE
Using discretion and judgment, provides legal counsel, planning and services on complex matters and issues to MFS, its subsidiary companies and its fund complexes.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Review and determine applicability of new or evolving regulatory requirements with which MFS must comply in order to sustain existing markets and grow in new markets.
- Work with business group leaders in ensuring their comprehension of specific regulations directly related to their business, as well as the general regulatory environment in which they operate.
- Negotiate, draft and review agreements over a wide variety of subject matter, from onboarding of Traders to commercial agreements.
- Assist in the management and use of external counsel for items in jurisdictions where MFS may not have appropriate experience. Be able to manage working in a multi-jurisdictional environment over a broad range of topics.
- Monitor changes to applicable global regulation and advise internal stakeholders.
- Follow established procedures, policies, protocols, and schedules to ensure that work is performed in accordance with set deadlines.
- Manage support team by providing prioritization, direction, training and coaching in order to accomplish projects and tasks.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor's Degree and Juris Doctorate Degree required.
- 6-8+ years of post-bar work experience, ideally in investment management, financial services or industry-related firm.
- Must be a member in good standing of the Bar and maintain good standing for all necessary license(s) and/or professional qualifications.
- Experience with financial services preferred.
