Job Responsibilities:
The SMC Technical Solutions Architect designs, describes, and manages the solution engineering in relation to specific business problems. The incumbent leads the practice of introducing the overall technical vision for a particular solution. They bridge the gap between business problems and technology solutions and can lead a team and mentor Software Engineers and Software Developers.
- Analyze the technology environment to find the best technical solution
- Facilitate or actively participate in client management and/or team discussions
- Describe structure, characteristics, behavior and other aspects of software to project stakeholders
- Identify and understand project issues and help lead a team or effort implement a solution
- Define features, phases and solution requirements
- Work closely with a counterpart in business process to align technical solutions with business needs
- Create a solution prototype and control development
- Participate in technology selection
- Take ownership in delivering high quality work, within budget, achieving high client satisfaction
- Provide on-the-job training to and the development of SMC team members
- Lead the development of the selected technical solution including code reviews and deployment
- Take additional mentoring/development responsibilities
- Communicate with client and SMC employees at all levels of the organization
- Understand project constraints and make technical and managerial decisions to reconcile these restrictions
- Conduct technical training and implementation sessions for clients
- Independently perform system and database design and development
- Work with others on the technology team to develop and maintain software development standards and documentation
- Support project management
Skills and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience
- IT infrastructure and Cloud development experience
- Work experience in multiple IT areas
- Work experience in critical thinking, creativity, detail orientation and commitment to quality
- Demonstrated ability to remain organized, prioritize work, remain self-motivated and meet project deadlines with minimal supervision
- Project and product management experience
- Empathetic listener, effective in interpersonal communications
- Rigorous attention to detail, demonstrated ability to write clear, concise communications and documentation demonstrating proper grammar, correct spelling and punctuation
Preferred Qualifications:
- Client facing consultant work experience
- Experience with implementing and using Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) tools
- Experience with appropriately scaling an application using microservices, containers and Kubernetes
- Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Work experience managing multiple priorities simultaneously
- Experience working independently and as part of a team
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite; working knowledge of Visio or other diagramming/design software
- Ability to work in a matrix-management environment
- Strong knowledge of SQL
- Healthcare experience
