In this role, you will support the vast array of technology tools needed to develop and operate the city’s network infrastructure, primarily engineering network solutions and facilitating operations, but also have the opportunity to apply your advanced proficiency to varying network implementation and enhancement projects, as well as playing an integral part of the infrastructure team. You will work closely with our team of IT professionals on the response and resolution management of network operations, including Commerce City’s wired and wireless network, structured cabling, network monitoring system, firewalls, telephony, and specialized mobile network connectivity endpoints. The Network Engineer will work closely with the IT Infrastructure Supervisor to facilitate network project implementations and participate in the infrastructure team's on-call rotation as scheduled.

Hiring salary is dependent upon experience.
The hiring range is $108,692- $128,015/annual.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, Technology Management or related field and five years of progressively responsible experience are required. Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered. Must possess a valid driver's license. Must acquire CJIS certification prior to active employment (no cost to candidate).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of- Advanced network engineering principles, methods, technologies.
- Advanced configuration of EIGRP and BGP routing protocols.
- All forms of network hardware and systems, including switches, routers, firewalls, wireless controllers and access points, telephony, access and identity – Cisco preferred.
- Commonly used network related protocols, applications, and functions including 802.11, QOS, STP, IPSEC, OSPF, ACLs, 802.1x, TLS, SNMP, VPN, DNS, DHCP etc.
- Technical training and drafting technical documentation and reports from systems.
- Industry standard IT security practices, technologies, methods and models.
- IT enterprise infrastructure design practices, technologies, methods and models.
- Network copper and fiber cabling standards and applications.
- IT service management best practices regarding incidents, problems, and change management – ITIL framework preferred.
- Enterprise hypervisor technology – VMWare preferred.
- Enterprise backup technology – Veeam preferred.
- Enterprise datacenter hardware – Dell (PowerEdge, VXRail, Isilon) preferred.
- Current Microsoft server operating systems.
- Microsoft domain server roles including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, NTP, etc.
- Azure and Office365 administration.
- Basic PowerShell commands supporting troubleshooting and configuration of Microsoft integrated network systems.
Skill in- Network engineering including network architecture, management, monitoring, deployment, and configuration.
- Telephony system architecture, management, monitoring, deployment, and configuration.
- Server and desktop system management and monitoring.
