We are looking for an engineer to join Sonos’ Product Security software development team. The mission of this team is to balance our desire to deliver simple and delightful products to customers while at the same time securing our customers' and partners' sensitive data and networks. The Product Security team identifies security problems, risks, and threats in current and future products and proactively addresses them by designing in and implementing security from the hardware level to the application level. This wide range of areas provides a wealth of challenges on which to work. As a Security Software Engineer you will help ensure that the security of our products is cutting edge, consistent, scalable, resilient, maintainable, and usable.

What You’ll Do
You will work with and learn from top-notch security engineers on a line of very popular consumer products, and your code will help secure tens of millions of devices, which is very cool. You will focus on our embedded system products, but the role can involve work in other areas, such as cloud and mobile.
Increasing product security may in turn increase complexity for the end user. However, a clean, comfortable user experience is central to the Sonos product experience. As a Security Software Engineer you understand this and can keep usability at the forefront in your thinking and technical designs.
What You'll Need
Basic Qualifications
- Skilled at writing reliable, extensible, and maintainable software in C/C++
- Experience in Linux development
- Fast learner
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are critical as this is a distributed team
- Interest in security areas, such as:
- Security architecture and design
- Network, applications, and systems security
- Cryptographic algorithms and systems
- Platform hardening
- Identity and trust management (authentication, authorization)
- Web services and platforms
- PII (Personally Identifiable Information) and Storage/Sharing
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of TCP/IP networking is a plus
- Thrives in fast-paced, results-oriented environment
At Sonos we consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, which may lead individual compensation to vary depending on job related qualifications, skills, and experience. All full time employees are eligible for merit increases, discretionary bonuses, and equity. Our job postings may span more than one career level and the base pay range may be modified in the future based on changing market conditions. The starting base pay for this role for all US candidates is between:
$134,000 and $168,800
