PURPOSE & JOB SUMMARY
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is self-directed and desires to take ownership of a variety of Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) matters within a growing business with a wide and expanding portfolio. The Attorney is responsible for a range of work product and collaborates with stakeholders in multiple business groups across the organization. They will also partner with external stakeholders and counsel. The Attorney supports compliance matters, performs due diligence, drafts, reviews, and assists in the administration of policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary responsibilities include:
- Drafts, reviews, and maintains a wide range of due diligence, deal and other documents.
- Prepares and negotiates a variety of transactional documents reflecting changes to original investment terms and disposition of investments.
- Provides interpretation of investment documents.
- Provides assessments regarding LIHTC and various compliance and risk and liability matters.
- Assists with Boston Financial compliance activities.
- Evaluates internal practices and procedures affecting the Boston Financial Legal Department operations in order to identify opportunities to improve the same and leverage technology to gain efficiencies.

The Attorney works closely with the Chief Counsel, Associate Counsel, General Counsel, ORIX Compliance and Legal, and the Boston Financial Asset Management and Production Teams.
EDUCATION, SKILLS, & EXPERIENCE
- Completion of law school with a J.D. degree and admission to the bar of at least one jurisdiction in the United States required.
- 4-5 minimum years of relevant experience with experience working with syndicators and institutional investors in connection with equity investments in affordable housing developments eligible for Federal low income housing tax credits, preferred.
- Experienced understanding of equity investments in affordable housing developments and Federal Low Income Housing Tax Credits.
- Strong strategic, analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Effective problem-solving skills.
- Communication skills to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders; excellent legal writing skills.
- High degree of client focus with demonstrated ability to interact effectively with Company personnel, outside counsel and representatives of other companies and adversaries.
- Ability to identify and suggest ways to improve upon processes and methods.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to understand and leverage technology to create efficiencies and streamline processes.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple diverse projects concurrently and handling demanding responsibilities in a high volume environment.
