The Opportunity
John Hancock, committed to data-driven solutions, is seeking data scientists or computer vision engineers who can design and implement image processing solutions to enhance operational workflows and fraud detection! We are on a quest to add team members with a strong technical background in both theoretical and practical aspects of image analysis and machine learning. Your role will be pivotal in developing innovative computer vision applications that will empower the company’s products and services!
Responsibilities
- Engineering computer vision algorithms for object detection, recognition, segmentation, and tracking using modern methods.
- Implementing and optimizing computer vision models using, but not limited to, convolutional neural networks (CNNs), recurrent neural networks (RNNs), transformers, other deep learning architectures.
- Developing new tools with computer vision libraries and frameworks such as OpenCV, Dlib, Scikit-Image, and computer vision SDKs like Vision API, Azure Cognitive Services.
- Develop custom pipelines for feature extraction, image enhancement, morphological operations, and perspective transformations.
- Deploying efficient computer vision solutions that operate in real-time environments, harnessing the capabilities of parallel processing.
- Continuous evaluation and performance tuning of computer vision systems with a focus on accuracy, latency, and scalability.
- Collaborating with other data scientists, engineers, and product managers to understand the business needs and deliver solutions that meet business requirements.

What We Are Looking For
- MSc/Ph.D. in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or a related technical field with a significant component of computer vision and machine learning in the curriculum/research.
- Experience with developing and deploying computer vision systems.
- Expertise in deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow 2.x, PyTorch, and libraries such as Keras for developing and training of machine learning models.
- Extensive experience in image processing, computer vision, and pattern recognition algorithms, including pre-processing, image segmentation, feature extraction, pattern recognition, and enhancement techniques.
- Proficiency in GPU-accelerated computing and libraries like CUDA, OpenCL.
- Fluency in programming languages used in computer vision applications such as Python (essential), C/C++.
- Experience with version control tools, especially Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong quantitative skills for analyzing and interpreting large datasets.
- Knowledge of cloud computing platforms, such as AWS or Azure.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and project management skills.

Salary range is expected to be between
$85,750.00 USD - $159,250.00 USD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
