The Senior Process Automation Engineer on the Process, Automation, and Tooling team of the AV Performance Analysis (Triage) group helps develop and deliver workflows, automation and user experience that is intuitive, optimized and centered around the AV Product Development lifecycle. In this role, you will build and maintain automation tools to streamline the processes, while identifying and measuring areas for improvement. This role is on a fast-paced agile team, unlocking the work of the core Triage Specialists and Triage Engineers towards delivering the broader Motional's operational goals.
The Motional global headquarters are located at 100 Northern Avenue in Boston, MA. Nestled in the bustling Seaport district with sweeping views of Boston Harbor and downtown Boston, the offices are located close to major transit lines and a quick walk to various restaurants and popular attractions.
What You'll Be Doing
- Work cross-functionally with users, researchers, and designers to help define requirements for AV Performance Analysis products
- Define product, functional requirements and roadmaps for AV Performance Analysis tools
- Design, build and maintain standard visualization interfaces for the AV Performance Analysis team
- Work independently with external software, hardware, and tools development engineers to develop specific solutions for the AV Performance Analysis team
- Develop tooling test frameworks in collaboration with the stakeholder teams
- Identify software-related issues and create clear and comprehensive documentation
- Lead collaboration efforts with developers to aid in issue resolution and verification
- Analyze test results and document findings in comprehensive test reports
- Manage issues throughout their entire lifecycle, driving them to resolution
- Collaborate with senior management to understand the vision for business-critical automation
- Provide accurate measurements of existing workflows and justification for how automation improves performance and quality
- Support and mentor junior developers
- Able to travel domestically

- Bachelor's or higher degree in Engineering - such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, System Engineering, Robotics, Backend/Front End developers, or equivalent knowledge and work experience.
- 3+ years of professional experience with software engineering concepts, including requirements analysis, source control, build processes, and design reviews.
- Strong experience with Linux, scripting, and analytical languages (E.g: Bash/Shell, Python, SQL)
- Strong experience in all stages of the design process, from early strategy and ideation, wireframes, and prototypes, to the final implementation of UI design
- Strong experience with Web Development languages such as HTML, CSS, Java, React
- Experience with AWS services such as Lambda, S3, SQS and EC2
- Expertise in using issue tracking and configuration management tools such as Atlassian Confluence, Jira and version control tools such as Bitbucket, Gitlab
- Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and creative problem-solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical people.
- Exposure to process automation and statistical optimization techniques
- Strong experience in requirements generation

- Experience working with safety-critical and complex systems such as -- Robotics, Autonomous Vehicles, Automotive, Medical Devices or Aerospace Technologies
- Experience in all stages of the design process, from early strategy and ideation, wireframes and prototypes, to the final implementation of UI design
- Experience in developing process metrics for measuring the throughput, capacity of operational tasks and for recommending corrective actions
- Experience in Quality Control and Quality Assurance (E.g: Test Plan and Case Management)
- Strong focus on Safety and Systems Engineering practices

Travel Requirements (greater than 20%)
Expected to travel for 1-2 weeks each quarter visiting all of our testing sites - mostly to LV, but also domestically as needed for the business.
