What We Need
At BCBSMA, we have a unique opportunity to work within the Integration and Interoperability Team as a Senior Full Stack Engineer. You will set guardrails, patterns and framework for other IIT & federated API development teams to follow as well as provide needed governance and audit to make sure it is followed. You will work with stakeholders, engineers, and subject matter experts to analyze, design, build and implement API proxies, back-end services and their policies, provide developer portal access for the APIs within the organization and external app developers. You will work with the DevSecOps team to automate the framework. You will own the APIGee platform and be the "go-to" person for all the APIGee needs. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and enable the team to deliver and improve on the product quickly.
Your Day to Day
- Architecture responsibilities:
- Actively participate in technical design discussions and help to finalize the decision making with Senior Leadership team.
- Understand the business mission, strategy, and processes of the service consumer applications along with service team strategy and provide implementation solutions using existing patterns, guidelines, and framework.
- Ability to learn new tools and technologies quickly.
- Reviews and ensures major implementation approach are consistent, maintainable, and flexible.
- Leadership responsibilities:
- Provides coaching and direction to other resources by coordinating analysis and development.
- Develops and manages effective collaborative relationships with other departments, groups, peers, and subordinates.
- Facilitates cross-team/train learnings, communication, and alignment.
- API Life cycle management responsibilities:
- Capable of API delivery end to end which includes Planning, Design, Development, Testing, and Delivery of API(s).
- Own creation and deployment of API led design strategy, API usage framework, and project team API enablement guidance as a core member of the service delivery team.
- Effectively communicates project expectations, issues, risks, and decisions to project team and business stakeholder related to API implementation.
- Development responsibilities:
- Creating and maintaining proxies, policies, and dev portal products in Apigee.
- Designs, Develop and prototypes cloud deployed, and DevOps enabled scalable solutions to business problems in alignment with the architecture direction and standards.
- Lead teams in building new API's, working closely with requirements analysts, developers, testers, and the customer in an agile development practice.
- Implement common APIs based on architecture guidelines and framework related to logging, authentication, security, error recovery etc.
- Working with DevSecOps to create/update an automated way to deploy APIs.
We’re Looking for
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Technology, or related field preferred.
- 3-5 years of technology, preferably in Digital or Analytics, with adequate functional and development experience.
- 2-4 years Apigee API management experience.
Tools Experience:
- Full-Stack Engineering vision: ability to leverage breadth of experience and knowledge to architect and design solutions.
- Strong delivery experience with AWS and/or Google Cloud, API gateway - Apigee.
- Knowledge about API design standards, patterns, and best-practices especially Swagger and OpenAPI 3.0, REST, SOAP, MQ, JDBC, X.12, JSON, Microservices etc.
- Deep knowledge and hands-on experience in API security standards and implementation (Active Directory Federation, LDAP, OAuth 2.0, JWT, OpenID, SAML, ClientID/Secret).
- Knowledge and experience with CI/CD tools Jenkins, Maven, Jira, ServiceNow, GitHub/GitLab, Release Management.
- JavaScript (NodeJS, ReactJS, AngularJS, Ionic), HTML5, CSS3.
- Use of containerization technologies such as Tanzu application platform.
- Experience in Java and spring (Boot, Data, Cloud etc.).
Work Experience:
- Strong coding skills, problem solving and troubleshooting.
- Experience in using Apigee Edge and Micro-gateway for development of API proxies.
- Strong knowledge of the Apigee component architecture.
- Expertise designing, developing, and converting web services between formats like SOAP and REST using Apigee.
- Experience building and deploying Apigee Development Portals.
- Experience generating custom Analytical Reports.
- Experience in security, analytics, caching, throttling, logging in Apigee.
- Experience in HealthCare industry is plus.
Collaboration Experience:
- Experience working with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Lean Startup, XP) and cross-functional teams (Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Developers, Designers, Business Analysts).
Minimum Education Requirements:
High school degree or equivalent required unless otherwise noted above.

Salary Range: $122,760.00 - $150,040.00
The job posting range is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for variable pay.
