Riverside Medical Group is currently seeking a full-time Thoracic Surgeon to join our team at Riverside Thoracic & Cardiovascular Surgery specialist team located in Newport News, Virginia.
Join a busy employed model practice with three cardiothoracic surgeons and four advanced practice providers. The ideal candidate will be thoracic surgery trained, BC/BE with experience in minimally invasive and open surgery. Successful applicants should possess advanced skills in a broad spectrum of thoracic surgery to include robotic procedures and interest in esophageal surgery. Teaching opportunities include working with general surgery residents, transitional year interns, internal medicine residents, emergency medicine interns, and APPs. Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News is our flagship facility, designated as a level 2 trauma center with state-of-the-art operating rooms, hybrid OR and DaVinci Robotic program. Riverside’s affiliation with the University of Virginia improves access to advanced treatments, transplant services as well as education and research.

Education: Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine
Certification(s) and License(s):
Licensed Medical Doctor – State of Virginia
Board Certified or Board Eligible
Required:
- Meet comprehensive and professional standards
- Have a current, valid state of Virginia medical license or be eligible for one
- Have a valid DEA controlled substance registration
Qualifications:
- Ability to make independent decisions regarding patient care.
- Ability to document appropriately and communicate with appropriate parties in a timely manner.
- Ability to complete charts in a timely manner.
- Experience in diagnosis and treatment of common medical conditions.
- Basic working knowledge of managed care and Medicare population.
- Pleasant speaking voice and demeanor.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Professional appearance.
