Riverside Medical Group is currently seeking a Full Time Acute Care Certified Physician Assistant to work with our Internal Medicine Hospitalist team at the flagship Riverside Regional Medical Center campus in Newport News, Virginia.
As part of a 32 Physician, 5 Advanced Practice Provider (APP) team, you will have the opportunity to care for a variety of high acuity patients in multiple settings. The roles of the APP within this team include: admissions from our Level 2 Trauma Center and from outside referring facilities, consult service for all sub-specialties and interspersed specialty-based or teams rounding/discharge service. As a part of this dynamic team, APPs are included in the development of new patient care models, quality initiatives, and team meetings.
Current scheduling is a 7/7 12-hour shift model, day shift. At this time, there are no procedural requirements for APPs.
Interested candidates should possess a collaborative spirit, be able to work in a fast-paced, diverse environment, and be motivated to be a part of a growing team. Prior Hospital Medicine is preferred; however, for the right fit candidate, there is a structured onboarding program designed to guide your process and facilitate growth in hospital medicine.
Education
- Nurse Practitioner: Masters Degrees
- Acute Care Certification Required, Acute Care Adult, or Adult Gerontology
- Nurse Practitioner License
- Physician Assistant-Master’s Degree
- Physician Assistant Certification
- Physician Assistant License
Required
- Have a current, valid state of Virginia medical license or be eligible for one
- Have a valid DEA registration
- References from peers and previous collaborating physicians

Scope of Practice
- Perform physical examinations and assessments of health with a knowledge of normal versus abnormal findings
- Develop disease-specific patient care plans
- Order, interpret lab, and radiologic diagnostic studies
- Prescribe appropriate medications/dosing ranges
- Complete timely, accurate documentation regarding plan of care development and patient outcomes
