General Summary
Lead and manage the entire range of Food Safety & Quality programs, as defined in the Campbell Snacks and Campbells Enterprise Food Safety and Quality Policies. Position has specific compliance, process, and consumer quality responsibilities. Position will manage a set of cross functional relationships within a multi-facility complex to influence site leadership on alignment of Quality strategies, Quality annual objectives, and Plant project plans. Incumbent will coordinate and deploy Quality Assurance programs across functional areas and influence plant leadership with food safety and quality best practices. Responsible for training, engagement and career development of staff.
Job Specifications:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 8 years' progressive experience working in a food manufacturing facility.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Quality plant/systems experience with demonstrated achievement in Quality leadership.
- Demonstrated experience in Food Safety, Regulatory, and Quality Systems and their application within food processing preferred.
- Experience in Sanitation and GMP Practices, familiarity with Pest Control programs and techniques.
- Demonstrated knowledge with Continuous Improvement tools. (i.e. LEAN, Six Sigma, Kaizen, CAPA, etc.)
- Familiar with formula and information management systems including Optiva, SAP and RMS.
- Some travel may be required up to 15%.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Provide Quality leadership to the Charlotte site, including the development of the Quality plan, alignment/development of resources and execution of priorities as defined by the Campbell’s Snacks and Enterprise Food Safety and Quality Policies.
- Drive process / continuous improvement initiatives through quality and sanitation team, C-Snacks quality, site leaders, and R&D (Process/Food Quality).
- Manage and drive key initiatives supporting the ‘Elevate the consumer experience’ strategy, including consumer complaints, continuous improvement projects, and SPC and capability improvements.
- Manage department and team by setting clear goals & objectives, individual development plans and providing a balance of coaching, empowerment, direction, and mentoring.
- Support plant initiatives across Safety, People, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
Job Complexity:
- This role will be located in Charlotte, NC and will have Quality leadership responsibility for the Charlotte multi-plant site.
- Expert abilities and decision quality in Food Safety, Regulatory, and Quality Systems and their application within food processing. Facilitate and/or direct resolution to issues as it relates to food safety and quality.
- Expert knowledge in Sanitation and GMP Practices, familiarity with Pest Control programs and techniques.
- Knowledge of Quality Standards, and Quality Policies, with skills and ability to execute against requirements.
- Knowledge and general business acumen to support and influence Manufacturing, including best practices and innovative technologies.
- Knowledgeable in industry Food Safety/Quality audit practices, and skilled in adapting to achieve business best practices.
- Capable of engaging other businesses unit quality in development and standardization of; Quality manuals, policies, procedures, and data templates, audit standards and procedures, and Quality Key Performance Indicators.
- Knowledgeable in Statistical Process Control programs and Process capability studies.
- Ensures plant personnel are technically capable of handling non-routine quality system issues and that issues are investigated, documented, and resolved.
- Record of leadership and demonstrated success in collaborative development, documentation, planning, and implementation and continuous improvement of food safety & quality systems.
- Ability to drive organizational alignment on Food Safety & Quality objectives with an enterprise-wide mindset, and the adaptation of structure, processes, and systems to achieve objectives.
- Capable of influencing development steps used in the Innovation and Commercialization process to leverage Design in achieving consumer safety and quality objectives.
- Dedicated work habits, takes initiative, sets high standards.
- Knowledgeable and capable of collaboration on quality programs, drives improvement of consumer-based specifications.
- Awareness of Continuous Improvement tools.
Other Qualifications:
- Must be able to work independently.
- Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to follow and communicate detailed instructions.
- Assertive, outspoken, yet collaborative. Demonstrated skills influencing components of the company, tough-mindedness, vision, and political savvy to manage internal and external relationships and situations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of food processing.
- Experience working in a large plant-this location is 50+ acres.
- Desired certifications: PCQI, HACCP, GFSI.
Compensation and Benefits:
The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between $105,000-$172,200. Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
