Legal Counsel - Corporate Insurance (Atlanta, GA)
Location: Atlanta, GA (possible NYC or Chicago, IL) | 140K - 170K Base + Bonus + Benefits Package
We are currently recruiting for Corporate in-house Legal Counsel in Atlanta, GA (possible Chicago, IL, or NYC) to join a team of legal experts in commercial specialty insurance. Hybrid in-office 2 days per week required. As Legal Counsel, you'll offer daily legal assistance to the US division, collaborating closely with the principals in operational sectors. Your main duties will involve drafting policy forms and endorsements, developing product strategies, innovating, providing legal backing for marketing efforts, aiding with regulatory queries and submissions, acting as a legal participant in project groups, and conducting legal research.
Responsibilities:
- Create policy terms, conditions, endorsements, and accompanying documents.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal clients, working strategically and collaboratively with departments such as Marketing, Service Delivery, Underwriting, and Claims to address legal matters, provide pragmatic advice, and reduce risk.
- Manage responses to state regulatory questions, challenges, and consumer complaints, and help oversee regulatory audits and examinations.
- Advise on marketing campaigns to ensure they comply with relevant commercial advertising laws and insurance regulations.
- Track regulatory changes and trends to guide product strategy and innovation.
- Perform legal research and stay abreast of legal and regulatory changes affecting the business, offering prompt legal advice and updates to different business sectors to maintain compliance throughout business operations.
- Engage in special projects as required.
Requirements:
- Must be a bar member in Georgia or other states, with 3-5 years of experience in the P&C insurance sector within a law firm or commercial insurance.
- In-depth knowledge of contract principles, insurance law, and industry-specific regulatory requirements.
- Exceptional skills in drafting, negotiation, and communication, with the capacity to explain complex legal concepts clearly and succinctly.
- Adept at fostering robust cross-functional relationships with internal stakeholders.
- Outstanding analytical abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
- Competent in working autonomously and within a team, taking a proactive stance on problem-solving.
- Excellent business acumen, time management capabilities, and proficiency in handling and prioritizing a variety of tasks and deadlines.
