Background
The Morton Plant Mease Health Care Foundation (MPMHCF) supports four non-profit community hospitals including Morton Plant, Clearwater; Mease Dunedin; Mease Countryside, Safety Harbor and Morton Plant North Bay, New Port Richey. These hospitals are part of the BayCare Health System, which is the largest not-for-profit health care system dedicated solely to the communities of West Central Florida and one of the largest private employers in the Tampa Bay Region.
The mission of the Morton Plant Mease Health Care Foundation is to support the Hospitals of Morton Plant Mease to improve the health and wellness of their communities by inspiring people to invest in innovative, cutting-edge programs and technologies delivered with compassionate care. The Foundation has $115 million in assets and a $2.6 million operating budget.
The Foundation is in the Tampa Bay Area (Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater) known for its beautiful weather, diverse population, and Gulf Coast beaches. 53% of current residents have come from other U.S. states. Position Summary
The President/Chief Executive Officer is responsible for providing overall leadership to achieve philanthropic fundraising goals and objectives in support of the Hospitals of Morton Plant Mease. This position reports directly to the Foundation Executive Committee and is part of the BayCare Senior Hospital Leadership Team. S/he oversees seventeen full and part-time staff.
Principal Responsibilities
- Partner with the MPMHCF Board to achieve philanthropic goals.
- Work closely with BayCare and Morton Plant Mease leadership teams
- Direct the major gifts program including identification, cultivation and solicitation of major donors.
- Lead process that obtains input from management, senior leadership and the board to identify and recommend priorities for potential philanthropic projects that will yield the highest impact for the Hospitals of Morton Plant Mease.
- Meet donors and establish genuine relationships with them.
- Direct capital campaigns and other major fundraising drives.
- Direct planned giving program with a focus on building long-term relationships with major donors.
- Direct annual fund program.
- Direct corporate, foundation, and grant programs, including developing proposals, tracking and compliance, report writing, and acknowledgment.
- Lead and work closely with Foundation staff.
- Work with staff overseeing Foundation events
- Work with staff responsible for the Foundation grant-making process.
- Interpret the organization and its programs, vision and goals to the community.
- Serve as the primary spokesperson within the community for philanthropic matters related to the Hospitals of Morton Plant Mease.
- Serve as the philanthropic advisory/resource for the Hospitals of Morton Plant Mease within the community and BayCare Health System.
- Develop and implement the Foundation's strategic plans.
- Collaborate with the Foundation Board Chair and staff on agenda items for Board and committee meetings.
- Prepare and monitor an operational budget for the Foundation.
- Work with staff who oversee the Foundation prospect research, database and tracking systems; maintain gift recognition programs.
- Work with staff who oversee Foundation publications and Hospital marketing and public relations departments to allow for systematic coordination of communications efforts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications And Attributes
- A bachelor’s degree minimum.
- Must embrace the mission and vision of the Hospitals of Morton Plant Mease.
- Eight plus years of nonprofit development experience. Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) designation is a plus
- Background in successful capital or other major fundraising campaigns
- Strong experience with major gift programs, including identification, cultivation, and solicitation of six and seven-figure gifts
- A track record of developing and sustaining authentic and genuine donor relationships.
- Be goal-driven to initiate external prospect and donor fundraising calls.
- Ability to build strong collaborative teams and actively engage with staff
- Leadership skills to collaborate with and motivate board members and other volunteers.
- Skilled at working with all levels of healthcare board members and professionals to include, but not limited to administrators, physicians, nurses and other health care personnel.
- Ability to collaborate with the leadership of the BayCare Health System to secure solutions which are in the best interest of the Foundation, Hospitals of Morton Plant Mease, and the communities we serve
- Strong capabilities in planning, organizing, and managing.
- Strong written and public speaking skills
- Proven success as a visible, engaged leader within the communities served
- Demonstrate schedule flexibility to accommodate Foundation commitments which do not fall within the normal 8 to 5 work schedule.
Compensation
The annual salary range for this position is $230,000 - $300,000, commensurate with experience and other qualifications. The BayCare Health System offers a comprehensive benefits package, including an excellent 401k plan, health, vision, dental and long-term disability.
