About the Job
The VP or Director of Institutional Equity Sales will work with research analysts, traders, and syndicate professionals to increase revenue and market share at important institutional accounts (investment management firms and mutual funds) in the Midwest.
Essential Job Functions
- Develop and maintain investor customer relationships.
- Ability to cultivate new investors and maintain existing investors through rigorous calling activity resulting in strong personal and professional relationships.
- Develop extensive knowledge about their investor base; keep abreast of emerging customer trends; gather information to understand customer strategies and their view of market opportunities.
- Have acute awareness of client trends as well as trends of client’s competitors.
- Develop marketing plan for area of responsibility.
- Set and achieve aggressive sales goals.
- Accountable for individual production goals.
- Develop strong and effective working relationships with Traders and Sales Assistants; draw on the full resources of the company to provide high-quality solutions and service to customers.
- Serve as the key leader for client quality and service; act decisively to implement solutions and resolve crises, and follow up to assure resolution.
- Communicate timely and relevant data to the client in order to improve their profitability.
- Advise clients on investment opportunities and recommend buying and selling of securities.
- Provide high-quality solutions and service to customers; identify ways that our product, sales, and service organizations work together to deliver value; search actively for efficiencies in the way our organization serves customers.
- Be aware of any issues or constraints felt by the client and provide a timely, credible solution.
- Determine ways in which we can improve the firm’s service to the client and develop a systematic approach to process improvement.
- Adhere to established compliance policies.
Required Qualifications
- 5 or more years relevant experience.
- Experience developing a business plan.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Works well in a team environment.
- Ability to travel.
- Series 7 and 63 certifications not required for application, but will be required within 3 months of employment.
- Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to multi-task.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA, CFA, CPA, or equivalent.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $170,000 – $250,000 annually depending on location, level, and job-related factors such as level of experience. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for short-term incentive compensation and deferred incentive compensation subject to individual and company performance.
