Misericordia Home, located on the north side of Chicago, provides a wide variety of services and programs for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It offers a full continuum of care for more than 600 children and adults from diverse racial, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds on its 37-acre campus as well as in individual homes in the surrounding community. Services range from skilled nursing care to semi-independent living. Individuals who become part of the Misericordia community have access to employment, educational, recreational and social opportunities both on campus and in the greater Chicagoland community. Position Summary for Vice President of Residential Services
The Vice President of Residential Services is a key member of the leadership team responsible for all aspects of residential living services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities living at Misericordia. This individual is responsible for driving quality residential services and for implementation of a growth strategy to meet Misericordia’s strategic goals. The Vice President will oversee all services related to residential supports, working collaboratively with Assistant Vice Presidents of Residential Services within the organization to lead, design, and implement enriching living support and enhance the quality of life of those served. The person is a recognized leader who creates and maintains a healthy culture within Residential Services and attracts and retains those who embody the core values of Misericordia. The Vice President will directly drive talent development and performance improvement, assuring these functions are completed through designated staff. This individual will oversee all functions related to regulatory and fiscal compliance related to residential services as well as drive innovation within all residential service areas. The Vice President will collaborate with the Executive Leadership team on issues of organizational importance.
Responsibilities
- Acts as a leader and role model with knowledge and belief of Misericordia's mission, philosophy, purpose, and scope of services.
- Serves as strategic partner to the President/Executive Director in developing and managing a strategy and plan for residential services to benefit individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Designs, leads, and implements a comprehensive strategy to support residential services into the future, looking ahead 5 years, with a focus on creativity and innovation. Maintains, adjusts, and communicates plan to leaders and staff.
- Supervises, monitors, and reports on the team’s progress to ensure residential goals and outcomes are achieved.
- Leads and supports changes in the organization.
- Collaborates with other VPs, AVPs and the Executive Director team to design solutions.
- Collaborates with other focus areas of the organization to ensure quality residential experiences for individuals living at Misericordia and ensures efficiencies to support future growth.
- Leverages data provided by the residential departments to conduct broader trend analysis, collaborates with other Vice Presidents to use outcomes to drive organization-wide action.
- Helps identify KPI’s and oversees data reporting to leverage decision making. Takes ownership of maintaining quality of data and holds others accountable for maintaining that quality, delivering against expectations and meeting goals.
- Offers support, removes obstacles where possible, and takes actions when expectations are not met.
- Formulates plans to address areas when the residential living services is not achieving its desired goals – drives results by identifying solutions.
- Maintains a broad and deep knowledge of current best practices, rules, policies, licensing regulations, guidelines and procedures related to residential services.
- Maintains extensive external network and routinely represents Misericordia in the public eye, contributing to the positive public image of the organization. Utilizes this network to bring innovative ideas to Misericordia and remain informed in the field.
- Oversees residential service’s overall budget. Helps manage the department's finances to achieve financial goals – fiscally responsible, understanding the connection to the broader finances.
Qualifications:
- Oversees stakeholder relationships and has a proven ability to build and maintain an internal and external network of reliable partners.
- Proven track record of effective program and project management outcomes within the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- 10+ years leadership experience navigating or leading major organizational changes.
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required with a preference for a Master's degree.
- Experience leading and managing teams in the spirit of learning, collaboration, and accountability.
- Understands licensing rules and regulations related to DHS, HCBS and IDPH.
- Ability to work in a constantly changing environment due to the constantly changing rules and regulations along with the changing needs of our community.
- Must have the ability to stay agile and organized, while managing multiple projects and competing priorities.
