LCMHA (Lenawee Community Mental Health Authority) provides or manages a full array of services to adults and children with mental health and/or emotional disturbances, persons with substance use disorders, and persons with developmental disabilities. Our mission is to create a path to resilience, recovery, wellness, and self-determination for these individuals.
What would this job entail?
The Parent Support Partner helps families engage in CMH services as well as meet with families in their homes to work on identified goals, help parents and caregivers navigate the CMH system and other systems, and assist parents with having their voices heard.
The candidate will:
- Engage consumer and/or caregivers with LCMHA services.
- Support families to identify and learn techniques/strategies for use by parents and caregivers.
- Provide skilled interventions as part of the treatment plan.
- Participate in the integration of primary and behavioral health care.
The qualifications for the position are:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
- The Parent Support Partner is a person familiar with the public mental health system and is willing to self-identify as a parent of a child who has received services in the mental health system, and will work to assist other parents or families who have a child (or children) with a serious emotional disturbance.
- Must be (or have been) a day-to-day caregiver for a child who has (or had) an emotional, behavioral and/or mental health challenge; and/or intellectual developmental disabilities.
- Must have general knowledge of the public mental health system, special education system, juvenile justice system, child welfare system and other community resources, and have experience navigating at least one agency serving children.
