Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Provides radiation therapy to patients as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist and in accordance with established standards and practices.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Applies knowledge and skill necessary to provide care to the appropriate age of patients, i.e. infant, pediatric, adult, and geriatric.
- Demonstrates competence, awareness of and sensitivity to the physical, emotional, and socio-psychological needs of all patients.
- Delivers prescribed dose and planned course of radiation therapy to patients, positions patients, answers questions and explains procedures.
- Performs daily “time out” procedures.
- Maintains established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, and safety standards.
- Collaborates with physicists, dosimetrists, nursing staff, and physicians during treatment as well as coordinates support care services (social work, dietary, etc.).
- Actively supports and participates in process improvement efforts and in team function/decisions.
- Prepares treatment room and equipment for patients.
- Other assigned duties.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Associate’s Degree in Radiation Therapy
Skills: Proficient in core job functions
Years of Experience: Internship completed, minimum 1 year as a working RT
License: Ohio Radiologic License required to work in Ohio
Certification: ARRT, CPR
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s of Radiation Therapy
Skills: Knowledge of Varian equipment/software, EPIC
Years of Experience: 1+ year as a working RT
ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE
Simulation experience would be desirable.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Personal Protective Equipment: Mask, non-sterile gloves, eye protection, and lab coat.
Physical Demands: Must be able to lift 50 pounds, frequently lift/push/pull patients into position, prolonged standing/walking, must be able to see, hear, and move intermittently or use prosthetics that will enable you to function adequately to assure the requirements of this position can be fully met.
