The Opportunity
As a Business Analyst, you will be responsible for collaborating with stakeholders and the project team to understand, assess, recommend, and implement business process solutions that facilitate, improve, and/or streamline existing business processes.
Primary responsibilities:
- Understand, document, and maintain business requirements, including existing challenges/issues, and success criteria.
- Assess feasibility with the project team and facilitate solutioning efforts.
- Provide guidance to stakeholders on solution options.
- Drive successful execution of the end-to-end lifecycle.
- Provide status updates to stakeholders and project leadership team.
The Team
This role aligns under the Financial Accounting Systems Transformation (FAST) project team, which is part of the Controllers group. The team is leading the charge to transition from SAP R3 to SAP S4/HANA and related data, business process, and reporting changes. This team continues to evolve and will provide candidates with growth opportunities.
The role reports to the Head of Data Management and partners with Corporate IT, third-party vendors, and business users/leaders.
The Impact
- Accountability: Subject matter expert for workstreams in SAP S/4 HANA in partnership with IT and offshore partners.
- Business Acumen: Understand the end-to-end processes, including cross-functional impacts and dependencies.
- Inclusion: Lead use case formulation, as-is/to-be analysis, product demos, joint application development for processes & SAP capabilities. Share SAP and industry best practices and knowledge, and personal expertise to educate our business processes.
- Resilience: Understand how data flows through financial systems to accounting function, while planning appropriately for changes with prioritizations. Establish and enhance governance and internal control procedures.
- Development: Lead SAP-centric process changes in alignment with Accounting Policy for evaluation and implementation of new GAAP/Statutory reporting requirements.
- Leading Others: Collaborate closely with other business areas, such as the financial close team to support accounting of transactions/events. Lend tactical support as needed with peer teams.
- Agility: Coordinate/Collaborate across Finance, enterprise technology, internal audit, enterprise risk, other business units & external audit, as appropriate. Guide the team in establishing effective control/governance for reports/dashboards with tight milestones for successful execution.
The Minimum Qualifications
- BS in Accounting, Finance, IT, or another similar field.
- 8+ years of accounting experience in finance roles or SAP implementation roles.
The Ideal Qualifications
- MBA or equivalent and/or Certified Public Accountant preferred.
- Hands-on experience with SAP ERP and/or SAP S/4 HANA implementations including SAP FI, CO, AR, AP, GL, PCA, CCA.
- Experience implementing Special Purpose Ledger/Parallel Ledger.
- Experience with at least 1 FP&A tool such as SAP BPC, Hyperion/HFM, OneStream, Anaplan.
- Experience in other SAP products - SAP BW, BusinessObjects, SAP BPC, SAP Cloud.
- Knowledge of US GAAP, insurance statutory accounting/reporting and/or experience in Financial Institutions.
- Ability to work with senior management, business, and IT areas to influence decision-making.
- Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to adapt to change.
- Ability to proactively take ownership of projects and drive to completion.
- Experience working in a Finance transformation setting & driving change.
- Identify and support process improvements that provide business value.
- Ability to initiate and/or lead complex projects that may span beyond the scope of own team.
- Experience in best-in-class control execution and documentation.
- Detail-oriented with demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
- Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
- Travel between Boston and Springfield required.
