We are looking for a highly skilled Director, Product Management to lead product development for Mystery Science, a part of Discovery Education.
As a product leader, you will be involved in every aspect of product development from strategic planning, user and market research, problem definition and prioritization, product feature design and implementation, and metric and KPI measurement.
You will lead a small but fast-moving team of PMs and a small cross-functional team of your own as well.
As the Director of Product Management, you will report to the SVP of Product and Design at Discovery Education (our parent company).
In This Role You Will:
- Drive a wide range of product initiatives and product planning.
- Develop a coherent product plan that addresses the needs of classroom teachers, students, and our business.
- Lead the team in building a product vision and translating it into a strategy that addresses the needs of the same.
- Partner with Engineering teams to understand complex trade-offs, align on scope, and ensure a positive impact on the user experience.
- Have a broad range of responsibilities and latitude. You may coach one of your PMs one day, develop a product improvement strategy the next, and present that strategy companywide the following week.
- Communicate product plans, build consensus, work collaboratively, and align priorities with stakeholders across the organization.
- Own product OKRs and lead a cross-functional team in the execution, which will include trade-offs, staffing projections and risks, and clear and consistent communication.
Core Competencies for Success:
- Exceptional people management track record and the ability to develop great talent.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and workstreams that deliver results.
- Record of leading or a demonstrable ability to lead empowered, autonomous cross-functional teams in a product-led growth environment.
- Unique ability to look at things through a customer/user lens.
Credentials and Experience:
- 5+ years of Product Management experience ideally working with multiple user personas or consumer-facing products.
- Legal right to work in the United States.
This role is designed to be in our Charlotte, NC Headquarters on hybrid schedules or worked remotely for candidates not within driving distance.
