Through its initiative of The Common Good, the Foundation is dedicated to helping people live healthier for longer. Their mission is to fund transformative research for heart and lung disease, mental health, and ageing with the aim of driving breakthroughs that improve lives today and for future generations.
About the Role
As the General Manager – Finance and Operations, you will provide strategic leadership across finance, human resources, and business operations at the Foundation. Your role will be pivotal in shaping financial strategy, ensuring regulatory compliance, and optimising operations to help the organisation achieve its mission.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will deliver strategic financial insights, refine business processes, manage key operational functions and elevate the financial literacy of Department Managers. Your work will directly contribute to supporting life-saving medical research and advancing patient care, and be key in the organisation’s planned growth strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Oversight: Lead financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, audits, and full compliance with regulatory standards.
- Strategic Support: Provide financial guidance to the CEO, COO, and Finance Committee, supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance analysis.
- Operational Efficiency: Develop and oversee systems to improve efficiency, manage organisational assets, and ensure compliance with Workplace Health and Safety regulations.
- Process Improvement: Drive initiatives to optimise financial processes, increase productivity, and enhance resource allocation.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Foster strong relationships with the Executive Leadership Team, corporate service providers, and volunteers to support organisational success.
- Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the Finance team while managing relationships with outsourced corporate service providers.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be a CPA/CA-qualified finance professional with extensive experience in financial management and business operations. You will be skilled at leading teams and collaborating at all levels within an organisation, with the ability to balance big-picture strategy and day-to-day operational details.
You will also be driven by purpose, enjoying work that makes a real impact. With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you will engage confidently with diverse stakeholders, including the Executive Leadership Team, volunteers, and external partners, ensuring the success of The Common Good.
