As a General Manager at Better Place, you will oversee all aspects of your forest location, including daily sales, welcome visits, memorial operations, facilities and forest management. You will lead in-forest staff and contractors, engage with the local community both in person and online, and ensure seamless business operations. Your role will involve supporting sales, fostering team development, maintaining strong relationships, enhancing the organization’s local presence, and achieving business objectives. You will be the central point of contact for the local Better Place community and collaborate with partners to deliver an exceptional forest experience.

Key Responsibilities:
- Forest Management & Operations: Oversee daily operations, including forest tours, memorial services, and facility coordination. Ensure all aspects of forest management are conducted efficiently and meet organizational standards.
- Sales & Business Development: Operate the forest location, achieving sales and productivity targets. Provide supporting activities in local lead generation, sales conversion, and customer satisfaction.
- Team Leadership: Motivate, coach, and train team members. Set performance standards and goals, providing feedback, rewards, and recognition to ensure high levels of team engagement and growth.
- Community & Partnership Engagement: Maintain strong relationships with cross-functional teams and local communities. Represent Better Place in the region, promoting our mission and fostering community connections.
- Customer Experience: Deliver an outstanding customer experience, supporting individuals and families through difficult times. Ensure seamless interactions and uphold high standards of service.
- Special Projects: Contribute to initiatives aimed at enhancing customer and staff experiences, including workshops, process development, and customer program innovations.
- Documentation & Reporting: Utilize internal tools and systems to document operations, track metrics, and support customer needs. Analyze business performance and report on progress.
- Other Duties: Perform additional duties as assigned, which may include tasks related to forest management, facilities coordination, and other work areas as required.
Qualifications:
- Empathy & Passion: Deeply empathetic with a passion for outdoor preservation and conservation. Enthusiastic about working outdoors and comfortable in various weather conditions.
- Leadership & Management: Strong leadership skills with experience in coaching, managing, and developing teams. Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Communication & Tech Skills: Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Proficient with technical software and systems, including Salesforce, G-Suite, Acuity, and Talkdesk (preferred).
- Operational Excellence: Demonstrated ability to manage operations, execute projects, and deliver high standards of service. Comfortable in working with cremated remains is required.
- Flexibility & Travel: Flexible schedule, including weekends. Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sustain prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, and lifting products and supplies up to 45 pounds.
- Must be comfortable working outdoors and adaptable to varying weather conditions.
