Position Summary
Montefiore Medical Center is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Maternal and Fetal Ultrasound to lead our Maternal and Fetal Ultrasound Unit. The successful candidate will oversee the clinical, educational, and research activities related to maternal and fetal ultrasound within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. This role offers an exciting opportunity to innovate and enhance the delivery of ultrasound services in collaboration with our Maternal-Fetal Medicine team.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership and Management:
- Provide strategic direction and leadership for the Maternal and Fetal Ultrasound Division.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the division, ensuring high standards of clinical care and patient satisfaction.
- Integrate ultrasound services, enhancing the patient experience and optimizing workflow.
- Report to the Department Chairman.
- Clinical Excellence:
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality ultrasound services, including fetal assessments, anomaly scans, and other diagnostic procedures.
- Maintain and promote evidence-based practices within the division.
- Perform and oversee invasive procedures such as amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling (CVS), cordocentesis, fetal transfusions, ensuring patient safety and quality outcomes.
- Educational Role:
- Develop and oversee educational programs for medical students, residents, and fellows in maternal and fetal ultrasound.
- Provide mentorship and teaching to enhance the learning experience and skill development of trainees and MFM physicians.
- Research and Innovation:
- Foster a research environment focused on advancing knowledge and practice in maternal and fetal ultrasound.
- Encourage and support faculty and fellows in research initiatives and publication efforts.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with other departments and specialties to ensure multidisciplinary collaboration and continuity of care.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff, fostering a culture of openness and trust.
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree with board certification or Board eligibility in Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
- AIUM certification preferred.
- Eligible for a medical license in New York State.
- Minimum of five years of experience in maternal fetal ultrasound, with a strong track record of clinical and academic excellence.
- Recognized local, state and national stature with involvement in national organizations such as ACOG, SMFM, AIUM preferred.
- Proven leadership, vision, experience in strategic planning, budgeting, staffing and management.
- In depth knowledge of maternal fetal medicine, screening and diagnostic ultrasound, development of innovative new models for healthcare delivery.
- Strong academic and clinical background, including a record of research, publications, presentations, quality assessment and improvement, full scope consultative clinical care.
- Proven commitment to education and training of Residents, Fellows, Faculty, technologists.
- Grant funding preferred.
- Ensure compliance with hospital guidelines, state, national and local regulations.
- Competence in performing screening fetal echocardiography, amniocentesis, CVS, PUBS, cardiac, uterine and umbilical Doppler flow.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to social justice and providing equitable care to patients from diverse backgrounds.

In addition to a competitive base salary of $550,000, bonuses based on clinical and academic productivity are also available.
