Job Summary:
The Financial/Accounting Analyst I will be assigned to the Corporate Finance department and will be responsible for Financial, Planning and Analysis and/or accounting responsibilities. This position is accountable for analysis and administration of financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, general accounting and/or reporting. Reporting by the FA I is submitted to management and leadership teams across the Enterprise.
Responsibilities:
Preparation, analysis and reporting of various financial activities, which may include: monthly, quarterly, and annual budgeting, forecasting and general ledger closing activities.
Perform analysis of variance reports and financials; exhibit awareness of managerial reporting requirements and know when to escalate discrepancies or issues to senior colleagues. Investigate unusual items as they are identified to ensure data is accurate. Works with large data sets using advanced modeling tools and able to pull datasets directly from source systems.
Daily activities will include analyzing spend activities and preparing monthly accruals and transactional journal entries, remediating data and quality issues, and reconciling general ledger accounts where appropriate.
Ensure compliance with all internal control processes with regard to the analyst's assigned specialization.
Ensure compliance by following, researching and interpreting guidance and documenting principles and issues related to transactions in different areas of finance.
Perform financial and operational analysis to provide meaningful inputs for decision making. Understand and educate customers on Horizon's budget and general ledger closing processes and build understanding of gross margin and profitability and entity level business operations.
Ensure the timely and accurate preparation and analysis of financial data and create and maintain reports to measure and track results against expectations.
Reconcile designated general ledger accounts using proper accounting techniques to verify general ledger account balances. Coordinate input of data into the financial systems including general ledger and planning and work with management to validate accuracy and reasonableness of data. Preparing invoicing and collections.
Education/Experience:
High School Diploma/GED required.
0 - 2 years' experience in Accounting, Investments, Financial Analysis and Operations.
Strong detail-oriented and organizational skills, analytical and communication (verbal and written) skills.
Preferred software knowledge, Financial Systems Workday, Oracle, SAS and Microsoft Suite: Excel, Word, Access, Project, etc.
Additional Licensing, Certifications, Registrations:
Knowledge:
Requires knowledge of general accounting principles and methods; prefer knowledge of both Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Statutory Accounting principles (SAP).
Understanding of accounting principles to maintain general ledger (e.g., double entry system, processing of transactions, preparation of schedules, reports, documentation, etc.).
An understanding of internal and external accounting standards and adheres to policies, procedures, and financial controls.
Skills and Abilities:
Strong analytical skills, business acumen and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong working experience with Excel.
Adaptability and ability to work in a complex matrix environment.
Experience with current Horizon systems and software a plus.
Salary Range:
$54,600 - $73,080
This compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity.
