The Role
The Chief of Staff role requires a motivated and adaptable individual who will ensure the SVP Product Segments can execute defined priorities. You will act as a problem solver, communicator, and facilitator for the overall Product Segments organization. As a Chief of Staff, you will help the SVP Product Segments identify the areas where they must direct their focus and help streamline activities. This role also partners closely with the key ecosystem partners across the Product function and Lumen more broadly to strategically manage objectives that will drive product excellence at Lumen. You are also expected to stay up to date on industry trends, market research, and all relevant data to ensure the Product Segments function is leading the way for customers and providing a data-driven experience.
This role reports to the SVP Product Segments and is not a people leader role.
The Main Responsibilities
- Analyze and synthesize data from various sources including, but not limited to, customer feedback, financial reports, project statuses, market research, product requirements, product usage, and more.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as product management, engineering, marketing, sales, and customer success to provide data-driven insights and support.
- Build and maintain slide decks, reports, and dashboards to present your analysis and recommendations to senior leaders and key stakeholders.
- Partner with HR on people planning (workforce planning, location strategy, org structure management, and people metrics).
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and guidance to the SVP’s direct reports and other staff members to keep all leaders aligned and executing on objectives.
- Identify and resolve issues and conflicts that arise within the organization or affect the SVP’s agenda.
- Keep up to date on the latest industry trends, best practices, and competitive landscape for the various product segments (Large Enterprise, Wholesale, Hyperscalers, etc.).
- Ensure your SVP is thoroughly prepared for all external and large internal meetings; manage necessary prep calls, ensure prep information is consolidated into a digestible format, and disseminate all materials to relevant parties.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance and progress of the organization and the leader's goals and objectives while also contributing to the development of new processes.
- Provide ad hoc analysis to support non-routine communication/budgetary requirements.
What We Look For in a Candidate
- Bachelor’s degree in business, business administration, operations management, or a related field preferred, a master’s degree is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in a business analyst or Chief of Staff role, preferably in the Technology or Telecommunications industries.
- 5+ years of experience in product/product management.
- High emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and adaptability, and the ability to handle ambiguity and navigate uncertainty.
- Proven track record of success in an analyst role where executive priorities are translated into actionable plans that can be tracked.
- Strong executive presence and excellent communication & interpersonal skills.
- Passion for products, technology, and innovation with a customer-obsessed mindset.
- Ability to navigate complex stakeholder management situations.
- Attention to detail across a broad range of contexts and topics.
- Experience with Business Operations and Planning, Business Transformation and/or Management Consulting is a plus.
Compensation
The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.
Location Based Pay Ranges
$128310 - $171080 in these states: AR, ID, KY, LA, ME, MS, NE, SC, and SD.
$135060 - $180080 in these states: AZ, AL, FL, GA, IN, IA, KS, MO, MT, NM, ND, OH, OK, PA, TN, UT, VT, WV, WI, and WY.
$141820 - $189090 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NV, NH, NC, OR, and RI.
$148570 - $198090 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DE, DC, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications, and other business needs.
