Job Description:
The Director of Finance oversees Finance staff, which provides finance support to Vistar's Operating Companies (OpCos). Provides key support through forecasting, planning, variance analysis, financial modeling, profitability analysis, and capital transactions. The Director of Finance prepares complex financial modeling and coordinates across various functional areas, from Operations to Sales. Supports OpCo leadership in operational analysis and monitoring key operational metrics. The Director of Finance provides guidance and leadership to assigned staff, including performance management and identifying key development opportunities. They function as a team member and leader with the department/organization, and perform any duty assigned to best serve the company.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Oversee finance staff in providing OpCos finance support including variance analysis, forecasting, annual budget, and operational review to over 20 OpCos.
- Work across the organization at the senior leadership level and across functional areas in order to translate financial performance for non-financial members of the organization.
- Coordinate with the Field Finance organization on monthly financial close understanding fundamental accounting requirements and controls.
- Prepares complex financial modeling of sales opportunities.
- Maintain and update financial models and cost to service analysis.
- Prepares executive-level presentations and analysis on financial performance, including analysis on profitability and productivity (including mix and margin analysis, market trends, and competitive evaluation).
- Interacts as an integral member of the OpCo leadership group and drives financially based decision making at the OpCo and regional level.
- Analyze capital investment decisions.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics, or equivalent experience.
- 6+ years of Finance and accounting experience.
- 5+ years of experience managing financial professionals, including managing managers.
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Must have experience supporting both income and expense organizations with responsibility for overall profitability.
- Must be comfortable creating and giving presentations at senior leadership level.
- Experience providing finance support for a multi-location national organization.
- Must have experience in industry with comparable complexity.
