Job Description
Functions as the financial advisor to the VP Business Unit Lead of the Latin America Group within the International Development Licensed Markets Segment. Understands the Latin America economic, political and competitive landscape as well as the growth potential and investment requirements of the region. Responsible for ensuring that the current ownership strategy and related financial capability is in place to deal with such business environments, capture the growth potential of the region and make the necessary investments required. Acts as a key advisor of the Latin America leadership team providing business, financial and commercial perspectives. Additionally, is responsible for providing support and guidance to Developmental Licensees in the development of their long-range plans to drive the strategic direction for the business.
Principal Accountabilities:
Strategic Business Development
- Understands the growth potential and investment requirements in Latin America
- Provides advice to DLs on strategy and execution issues with financial and Franchising components and implications.
- Provides advice and counsel on the development and on-going execution of the long-term Franchising plan including a continuous evaluation process.
- Provides advice and counsel on addressing sub-franchisee related issues such as profitability, rent assistance, re-imaging programs, etc.
- Provides advice and counsel to BU Lead on the approval of business plans, restaurant opening and capital plans.
- Supports execution of DL Business Strategy.
- Approves all restaurant closing and significant DL transactions requiring McDonald’s approval.
- Approves all non-recurring transactions related to DL markets.
Profitable Growth
- Assists in monitoring DL current performance against plan and supports necessary analysis to identify issues and evaluate potential solutions to these issues.
- Focuses measurement activities on priority areas identified for profitable growth.
- Provides advice and counsel to the DLs on the development and execution of ownership optimization plans which will include the identification of the most effective ownership model for each of the territories in Latin America.
Coaching, Training and Development
- Lead, coach and mentor the Latin America Finance Manager in the execution of his activities, assigning roles and responsibilities, and setting priorities and timelines.
- Provides advice to Latin America management and DLs on the development of the overall business organization (e.g., number of staff, activities on which to focus, competency/quality requirements of staff, etc.).
- Assists DLs in the selection and training of Key Executives for various key disciplines in the organization.
Fiduciary Responsibility
- Ensures that DL organizations are in full compliance with MFA, MUFA, or individual Franchise Agreements and works closely with the Legal function on any exceptions and/or modifications to such agreements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field (required).
- Advanced degree (MBA or Master’s in Finance, Accounting, or Economics) preferred.
- Experience in providing financial support and strategic direction within a global or regional market context.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to dynamic market needs and lead with a global perspective.
- Experience working within Latin America preferred.
- Proven expertise in relationship management, finance, market analysis, and business partnership.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and strategic thinking skills.
- Comprehensive understanding of financial principles, including analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and investment evaluation.
- Ability to speak Spanish preferred.
