Overview
With over 30 years in practice, one of the country’s leading architectural & interior design firms specializing in life sciences, education, and workplace is actively seeking a Senior Project Manager to join their San Francisco, Mountain View, or Sacramento office. The studio specializes in the design of laboratories, clean rooms, manufacturing facilities, data centers, and high-performance workplace environments, for clients working in the life sciences, electronics, mission-critical, education, and medicine.
With 180+ staff, they provide programming, master planning, building, and interior design services, including laboratory, cGMP, and medical planning, to new and established companies, institutions, developers, and healthcare providers.
Role Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a balance of design and technical skills and proven experience delivering large complex Type 1 Core and Shell projects. A minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial core and shell architecture is required (life science/high-tech experience is a plus). Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture and California licensure is preferred. Team & Client Management skills are required. (Senior Project Manager candidates with 15-20+ years of experience will lead into a future Principal position!)
Qualifications
- Primary point of contact for client, consultants, and contractors.
- Strong understanding of Type 1 and Highrise Design and Construction.
- Experience in planning and coordinating activities associated with the design, development, preparation, production, and control of project documents from schematic design through construction administration on highly complex projects.
- Ability to perform building code analysis, define construction document requirements, coordinate architectural and engineering disciplines, coordinate the development of specifications, issue bid documents and review shop drawings.
- Experience in monitoring the quality of documents and leading/mentoring daily technical-related assignments.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to lead team members' accurate technical documents, graphic presentations, and 3D renderings, with a focus on consistency and quality.
- Ability to work independently to solve complex design issues.
- Ability to work constructively with entitlement agencies in addition to all trades and relevant interested parties.
- Knowledge of 2D/3D software is preferred but not required, such as Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and/or Sketch-Up.
- Knowledge in Revit / Autodesk Building Design is preferred but not required. Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
