As a Senior Director, Proposals, you will lead a team of 20 proposal professionals that develop and produce proposals to Verizon's Federal and State, Local, and Education (SLED) customers. You will oversee personnel ranging from proposal managers to writers to coordination and publications functions that work closely with internal stakeholders to deliver top-quality, winning responses to RFPs.
Oversees the successful development and delivery of all Public Sector wireline proposals, including resource proposals, performing readiness assessments of proposal efforts, and participating in leadership awareness/escalation discussions to ensure timely, complete, and compliant proposal deliveries.
Engages daily with executive and senior leadership across a highly matrixed organizational structure to provide accurate and timely proposal status and communicate/overcome challenges. Works closely with Account Team personnel, Business Developers, and Capture Managers to ensure proposal readiness in advance of solicitation release.
Performs personnel management duties to include identifying and hiring new personnel, training, motivating, disciplining, and conducting performance evaluations of assigned employees. Sets performance goals on an annual basis that drive the exceptional performance of Verizon's proposal professionals and meets with direct reports regularly to assess performance against goals.
Works with Associate Directors to refine existing proposal processes, tools, and templates, including consistent methods for conducting proposal reviews. Work across operational lines with the leadership of sales and operational organizations to develop, deploy, and commit new practices and to set up new knowledge/content management systems to store growth-related artifacts.
Where You'll Be Working...
This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the VP. The role may also require intermittent travel.
What We're Looking For...
Proven track record of effective/strong leadership; leading teams of 20+ individuals.
Degree preferred; however, 12+ years of job experience can be substituted.
10+ years of experience in proposal management focused on Federal and/or state and local government solicitations, invitations to bid, and responses.
8+ years of experience as a people leader, including leadership of virtual teams.
Working knowledge of proposal development life cycles and understanding of Shipley or other proposal development processes.
Demonstrated ability to and experience in working efficiently under conditions of multiple deadlines and changing priorities.
Ability to and preference for collaboration.
Strong leadership skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills with demonstrated experience interacting with personnel in senior leadership positions to present challenges/issues impacting proposal quality and recommending solutions.
Strong organizational and planning skills.

Experience supporting the development and implementation of process/tool improvements in the proposal industry.
Familiarity with set-up/use of proposal collaboration tools and knowledge management tools.
