JOB SUMMARY
In addition to performing the duties and responsibilities of a full-time Staff Perfusionist, the Perfusion ECMO Specialist Liaison/Perfusion ECMO Team Leader supports and implements educational activities and operations of the RRT-ECMO Specialist Team and the Perfusion Team. They will collaborate with respiratory therapists, physicians, perfusionists, advanced practice providers, nurses, and trainees, as well as other members of the health care team. They are the Department of Cardiopulmonary Bypass expert on the ECMO process and procedures and work collaboratively with the Perfusion ECMO Specialist Educator and ECMO Specialist Team Leader.
The Perfusion ECMO Specialist Liaison/Perfusion ECMO Team Leader designs, implements, and evaluates procedures, protocols, and educational programs intended to improve the clinical practice of the RRT-ECMO Specialists, Perfusionists, and other clinical staff who provide direct care to patients with advanced heart failure, cardiogenic shock, and/or compromised respiratory function. Coordinates educational experiences of RRT-ECMO Specialists, Critical Care Nursing Teams, Advanced Practice Providers, LifeStar, Interventional, and Cardiology Fellows with the Perfusion ECMO Specialist Educator. Evaluates new treatment modalities and participates in research and quality improvement activities related to Adult ECMO. Provides care to patients with primary responsibility for maintaining appropriate extracorporeal support, troubleshooting equipment, assessing the circuit, and managing circuit emergencies until additional assistance is available.
Reports to the Chief of Perfusion. Manages the ECMO system and the clinical needs of the patient on ECMO under the direction and supervision of the HHC System Medical Director of Mechanical Circulatory Support/ECMO.

- BS and Certificate in Cardiovascular Perfusion
Experience
Licensure, Certification, Registration
- CT Perfusion License, ABCP Certified, BLS Certified

- Extensive experience with Adult ECMO
