About The Job
As the Head of Content at Perry Weather, you'll lead the charge in building awareness and demand strategies that directly contribute to qualified pipeline and ARR bookings. Reporting to our Head of Marketing, this role offers a unique opportunity to craft and execute a content strategy that captivates and engages our target audience from the ground up. While we've seen some success in search and social channels, we're looking for a visionary strategist to take our efforts to the next level and build a world-class content engine and team.
The ideal candidate is a creative risk taker, performance-driven, comfortable owning large-scale inbound content campaigns, and skilled at testing targeted approaches for our highest-priority accounts and segments.
You’ll lead our current Content Team, which includes a Content Marketing Manager and a Content Creator. You'll also have the opportunity to identify areas for further hires and growth as the team evolves.
Tech Stack:
CMS: WordPress
CRM: HubSpot
Marketing Platform: HubSpot
Comms: Slack
Project Management: Asana
Research Tools: Google Analytics, HotJar, SemRush, SparkToro, ZoomInfo
Other Tools: Adobe CC, Canva, Claude, ChatGPT, Frame.io, TrustPilot, Wistia
We’re always on the lookout for new tools to enhance our stack, streamline processes, and boost team efficiency—and you'll have full autonomy to explore and implement them.
What You’ll Own
Strategy: You’ll be the architect of a high-performing content strategy rooted in the needs and desires of our customers. As a relentless researcher, you won’t just rely on data from Google Analytics—you’ll get hands-on, talking directly to customers and prospects to stay in tune with how we can educate, inspire, and convert them into loyal clients.
Search: Lead the charge in building a robust search strategy aimed at dominating search rankings. Your focus will be on creating content that not only drives brand impressions but also generates tangible sales opportunities.
Distribution: Develop and execute a focused distribution strategy that prioritizes experimentation. Since we’re still discovering where our audience consumes content, your mission will be to meet them where they are and engage them effectively.
Performance: Bring a performance marketing mindset to everything you do. You’ll be responsible for understanding strategic intent, testing messaging, and optimizing conversions. Regularly measure and manage the performance of all your initiatives.
Customer Activation: Transform our customers into our biggest advocates. We operate within niche industries with vibrant communities, and our customers love us. Your goal will be to amplify their voices through social media, referral channels, and beyond.
What You'll Need to Excel
You’re a Leader, Not a Manager: We need leaders, not managers. Build structure, create a cadence, support proactively, and empower your team with clear and concise communication + expectation setting.
Execution-Oriented: You’re all about getting things done. If you’re looking for a role that involves making fancy presentations without rolling up your sleeves, this isn’t it.
Proven Experience: With 5+ years of experience running content programs, ideally having built one from the ground up, you know what it takes to create and sustain a successful content strategy.
Writing & Editing: You’re a natural writer and editor, passionate about crafting content. As our editor-in-chief, you’ll steward our brand voice and ensure every piece of content aligns with our standards.
Passion: You’re deeply immersed in the world of content marketing, participating in online communities, subscribing to industry newsletters, and brainstorming with peers. While you’re aware of best practices, you trust your own experience and insights to guide your decisions.
Quality Over Quantity: You believe that high-quality content trumps sheer volume. You’re committed to creating the best content, knowing that it delivers maximum value to both the audience and the brand.
Distribution Expertise: You understand that even the best content has no value if it doesn’t reach the right people. You’ve successfully executed powerful distribution strategies in the past and are ready to do it again.
ROI-Focused: You recognize that some content channels and projects can be challenging to measure, but you don’t let that deter you. You take a rigorous approach to creating hypotheses, setting content KPIs, and proving the ROI of your work and strategy.
