As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll spend your days translating requirements into solutions, writing code, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and providing us with the insights necessary to think beyond the status quo. You'll lead project teams consisting of other engineers achieving shared goals.
About Team
Our team works closely with our US stores and eCommerce business to better serve customers by empowering team members, stores, and merchants with technological innovation. From groceries and entertainment to sporting goods and crafts, Walmart U.S. offers an extensive selection that our customers value, whether they shop online at Walmart.com, through one of our mobile apps, or in-store. Focus areas include customers, stores and employees, in-store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, and search and personalization.
What You'll Do
During any given day, you will:
- Assist in solving problems by writing and developing code, conducting unit testing, communicating status and issues to team members and stakeholders, troubleshooting open issues and bug-fixes, and ensuring on-time delivery and hand-offs.
- Assist in providing guidance to engineers for assigned Engineering projects by providing detailed technical feedback through various channels including pair programming and code reviews.
- Provide support to the business by responding to user questions, concerns, and issues.
- Troubleshoot business and production issues by gathering information (for example, issue, impact, criticality, possible root cause) and performing root cause analysis to reduce future issues.
- Participate in the discovery phase of medium to large-sized projects to come up with high level design by partnering with the product management, project management, business, user experience teams, and engineering teams.

- A disciplined approach to development, code review, testing, documentation, and code structure in a team environment.

Minimum Qualifications
Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position:
- Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
- Option 2: 6 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
Preferred Qualifications
Outlined below are the optional preferred qualifications for this position:
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
- We value candidates with a background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
- The ideal candidate would have knowledge of accessibility best practices and join us as we continue to create accessible products and services following Walmart's accessibility standards and guidelines for supporting an inclusive culture.
