UNM Medical Group, Inc. (UNMMG) is seeking a Psychiatrist, who will be based out of UNM's Behavioral Health Clinic in beautiful Rio Rancho, NM. We are open to a part-time day-shift schedule of 0.2-0.5FTE
Summary
Under indirect supervision, provides and manages direct health care for a specified patient population.
Minimum Job Requirements of a Psychiatrist:
Medical doctor with 3 to 5 years of directly related experience which may include residency in a directly related medical specialty. State of New Mexico and Federal DEA Certification; Medical Specialty License or Certification; Board Certified or Board Eligible in specified area of medical specialty. Verification of education and licensure (if applicable) will be required if selected for hire.
Duties and Responsibilities of a Psychiatrist:
- Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress.
- Ability to supervise, advise, and train clinical professionals and/or students in area of expertise.
- Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in area of expertise.
- Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care.
- Knowledge of relevant drugs and non-pharmaceutical patient care aids and ability to prescribe dosages and instruct patients in correct usage.
- Knowledge of community medical diagnostic and patient care services in area of medical expertise.
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
- Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops.
- Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.

About the UNM's Behavioral Health Clinic:
The Behavioral Health Clinic has an interdisciplinary team providing accessible behavioral health care to the Sandoval County community, while also coordinating care with integrated behavioral providers at the neighboring Sandoval Regional Medical Center and nearby Grande Primary Care Clinic. Team members work collaboratively across behavioral health and related disciplines, including psychiatry, psychology, nursing, primary care, clinical social work, counseling, and peer support.
At BHC-Rio Rancho, this provider would evaluate and manage behavioral health care plans for patients (aged 18 and up) with psychiatric illnesses, substance use disorders, and problems related to chronic health conditions. Opportunities are available for interested providers to provide care to pediatric patients. This provider works collaboratively with other members of the inter-professional healthcare team, including psychiatry, psychology, clinical counseling/social work, and coordination of care with other health care providers and community resources. This provider would have a moderate acuity schedule of 45-minute new patient visits and 30-minute follow up visits.
