Job Description
Title: VP of Manufacturing
Reports to: President
Job Purpose: Responsible for all aspects of plant operations within Phoenix Stamping Group, LLC including production, personnel, and equipment/facility.
Scope: Phoenix Stamping Group’s manufacturing operation currently comprises four manufacturing facilities, 275+ personnel, and approximately $85MM in sales.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Plan, develop, and implement strategy for operational management:
- Evaluate and execute operational strategy and performance in conjunction with the management team.
- Meet organizational performance plans and metrics within agreed budgets and timelines.
- Establish and maintain appropriate systems for measuring necessary aspects of operational management, development, and improvement.
- Support the execution of the organization’s strategic plan including effectively scaling and optimizing manufacturing operations across existing and future plants.
- Manage and develop direct reporting staff currently consisting of Plant Managers (4).
- Establish and maintain development and training systems for all operational personnel.
- Monitor and manage facility readiness and maintenance including both equipment and facility.
- Monitor the effectiveness of the company’s quality and safety programs and work with the VP of Quality and Safety to continuously improve.
- Support manufacturing capital expenditure process including identification, prioritization, budgeting, and implementation with support from direct reports and cross functional teams.
- Establish and monitor budgets and oversee spending related to each plant’s budgetary requirements.
- Maintain knowledge and awareness of contemporary operational theory and methods and provide suitable interpretation to all operational personnel as well as functional managers and executives.
- Champion continuous improvement efforts through knowledge and awareness, training, and prioritization to support execution.
Operate within Company Parameters:
- Provide input to the company’s growth and vision by supporting and managing aspects of the Strategic Plan, Business Plan, and annual Hoshin Kanri process.
- Communicate and work with other functional managers and executives to support execution to relevant business and financial metrics and improvement opportunities.
- Ensure operational activities and management of materials are executed in a manner consistent with good stewardship.
- Ensure activities meet with and integrate with organizational requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal stipulations, environmental policies and general duty of care.
- Execute all responsibilities according to lawful and ethical standards as established by company policies and procedures.

- Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
- Gross Margin
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience, preferably in Engineering or Industrial Management.
- Minimum of 15+ years of experience in manufacturing operations preferably in high volume operations.
- 10+ years of leadership experience (plant management and above) in a manufacturing environment including demonstrated ability in the development of individuals and teams.
- Demonstrated ability in driving continuous improvements through team building and process change.
- Excellent analytical, organization, and computer skills, including data analysis from Excel and ERP reporting.
- Experience planning and scheduling across multi-site operations is a plus.
- Lean manufacturing and quality system experience required (ISO 9001:2015 preferred).
- Strong understanding of relevant operational finance metrics with experience managing a P&L required.
- Exceptional communication skills and leadership experience.
- Ability to handle and prioritize tasks simultaneously across multiple fast-paced manufacturing facilities.
- Willing and able to travel ~30%.
