THE ROLE:
JewishColumbus is the only organization in Columbus focused on and capable to meet the diverse needs of our Jewish community. Our community is growing and changing and how we invest in the community must also evolve. The Senior Director of Community Investment & Planning will manage and lead the reassessment, redesign, and implementation of JewishColumbus’s updated investment process. This new process will provide the greatest impact, meet community needs, and reflect JewishColumbus priorities within the scope of available resources. The Senior Director will also help create meaningful investment metrics that can be analyzed for growth and opportunity.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
INVESTMENT REASSESSMENT PROCESS:
• In partnership with CISO and Community Impact chair, lead redesign and implementation of JewishColumbus’ new investment strategy.
• Research and benchmark against other investment processes across the country.
• Guide communication and community outreach efforts throughout the process, including releasing findings to the community.
• Include lay leaders, community members and community partner agencies in assessment process.
• Develop and maintain relationships with the above stakeholders.
• Facilitate ongoing, substantive dialogue with Jewish community agencies and organizations to understand current needs and anticipate future needs.
• Develop a robust investment process that is user-friendly, allows flexibility and encourages partnerships.
• Develop and evaluate metrics that can be used by JewishColumbus and Partner Agencies to understand current state and change outputs to get to desired outcome.
• Utilize these metrics to better clarify JewishColumbus’s distinct community impact.
COMMUNITY INVESTMENT:
• Oversee and implement JewishColumbus’ new investment strategy & process.
• Communicate funding decisions and requirements to all recipients.
• Approve all allocation, grant and special purpose fund payments.
• Provide information to Marketing and FRD to show impact of community investments.
• Stay abreast of current and emerging trends that impact the Jewish community and help develop appropriate and timely strategies in response.
• Develop trusting partnerships with key stakeholders including convening partners, building coalitions, forging common agendas, organizing community awareness, and leveraging resources.
• Work outside the box to find new ways to invest in the community.
• Work closely with Community Impact Committee (CIC) Chair and JewishColumbus leadership to design the annual framework for partner conversations.
MEMBER OF IMPACT TEAM:
• Contribute to a collaborative team environment and culture, working with team members to support one another’s success.
• Create professional growth and development opportunities for direct reports.
• Contribute to and/or manage other projects that support the success of the Community Impact team and JewishColumbus.
• Educate the community about the work of JewishColumbus and Community Impact team.
• Engage in relevant professional development training and networking opportunities.
• Develop and utilize CRC, Foundations Clouds, Excel, and other relevant technology and data analytic tools to accurately manage, share and strategically analyze information.
• Serve as a liaison between specific community agencies and the Community Impact team.
• Maintain and expand the network of social sector professional connections and draw on their expertise to inform work at JewishColumbus.
• Attend JewishColumbus and Partner Agency events when appropriate.
MEMBER OF STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP TEAM:
• Help strategize essential day-to-day business operations, lead core initiatives, and establish organization-wide policies and procedures.
• Thought partner to CISO.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s Degree (Masters preferred) with substantial senior level leadership experience of at least 10 years in public policy, nonprofit management, and/or strategy.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in direct management of employees and teams.
• Strong understanding of the social, economic, and political landscape of Columbus, OH and its Jewish community is preferred.
• Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, political, and diplomatic skills.
• Strong research and data analytic skills; Experience developing and analyzing metrics.
• Ability to develop trust and consensus-building with strategic partners – staff, volunteers, Board Members, partner agencies, and key stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse interests and communities; energetic and engaging personality, enjoys working with people in different settings, donor and community focused.
• Protects the JewishColumbus brand, promoting its relevance and stature to the greatest extent possible.
• Behaves ethically and honestly in all activities done on behalf of JewishColumbus and the Jewish community.
• Strong organizational skills, detail oriented, highly motivated, and ability to prioritize multiple work responsibilities and meet deadlines.

• Available to work evening and weekend hours when needed.
• Strong interpersonal, relationship building, and leadership skills to interact with a diverse body of lay and professional leaders.

SCHEDULE & WORKSTYLE:
• JewishColumbus offers a hybrid work schedule with three days a week in the office and the option of two remote days each week.
• The position requires work outside typical business hours of 9-5, Monday-Friday, in exchange for the benefit of having several Jewish holidays off when they fall on weekdays, and early end to the workday on Shabbat and evenings that start the Jewish holidays.
