Director, Medical Affairs Communications Oncology
The Director, Medical Affairs Communications Oncology manages strategy and implementation surrounding the collection, preparation, and dissemination of medical and scientific information on Bayer's pharmacological and biological products to physicians, pharmacists, investigators, health care institutions, agencies, patients and their families. The incumbent is responsible for supporting their assigned therapeutic area(s) and prepares and analyzes key metrics for medical management and business unit management functions, as needed.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Director, Medical Affairs Communications Oncology, are to:
- Contribute to the design, development and implementation of training materials to educate the sales force, MSLs, Customer Care Services, Medical Convention and Clinical staff;
- Provide the medical information review of advertising and promotional materials on their assigned therapeutic areas, ensuring that information is scientifically accurate and medically appropriate;
- Collaborate with legal and regulatory to develop a consistent process and ensure consistent reviews of promotional materials;
- Assist in the analysis and dissemination of reports generated from calls and contacts, so that issues, patterns and trends discernible in the incoming contacts are identified and shared with key internal stakeholders;
- Assist in any designated quality assurance review program. Ensure that information systems used by Medical Information Services contain accurate and up to date clinical information, and that this information is appropriately shared within all cross-functional partners in a timely manner;
- Participate in or direct medical matrix meetings with internal customers (e.g., Sales, Marketing, Clinical Research, Regulatory, PQC, Legal, GMS) in order to fully utilize and coordinate company expertise in the department's role of responding to medical and product inquiries and providing internal medical support and to ensure the safe and appropriate use of Bayer products assuring public health oriented responses and to assure the key medical messages are consistent and accurate throughout the company;
- Assist in the regular assessment of departmental and team training needs, and coordinate the training activities involving the team;
- Maintain a close working relationship with all members of US Medical Affairs, Product Development, as well as executives in Marketing, Sales, Manufacturing, Drug Safety, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs and Legal Departments;
- Participate actively with members of the U.S Marketing Staff for advice, guidance, innovation of marketing programs, training of field personnel (Sales Force) and preparing critiques of competitive product literature.
WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:
- A Healthcare Professional (PharmD, MD, PhD) with experience within a pharmaceutical or medical device company; or equivalent clinical experience (understanding of disease states and drug therapy or an understanding of clinical trials, experienced in medical information processes) required;
- Experience in a formal drug information center or equivalent clinical experience required;
- Sophisticated problem resolution skills, presentation skills, communication skills, interpersonal skills and team building skills are required;
- A strong knowledge of FDA regulations regarding drug promotion, the dissemination of medical and product information is required;
- The incumbent must reflect the highest ethical standards in decision making and in their day to day activities;
- A strong focus on customer service is critical to successful performance in this position;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are required;
- Computer proficiency required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience;
- Experience in budget oversight, administration, and management of personnel is preferred;
- Prior launch experience preferred.
