About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated Senior International Tax Manager to join our global tax function. This role is pivotal in leading Confluent’s U.S. federal international tax compliance and planning. The Senior International Tax Manager will have a high impact role on scaling Confluent’s global tax operations and compliance and will partner closely with Treasury, Finance, Legal, Accounting, and other leaders within Confluent’s global operations.
The ideal candidate is an experienced tax professional with at least 7+ years of experience with large multinational publicly traded corporations (including Big 4 experience), strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, and the ability to communicate and work with people at all levels in the organization. Prior experience at a Big 4 firm and/or experience working at an enterprise software company is a plus.
Due to the fast-paced and high-growth nature of the Company, the candidate must be detail-oriented, have strong organization and communication skills, and be willing to roll up their sleeves when needed.
This position is remote eligible and will report to the VP of Tax.
What You Will Do:
- Collaborate with our global tax team responsible for U.S. federal and state tax compliance, audits, and provisions (ASC 740), as well as tax modeling and planning.
- Manage various in-house U.S. federal tax compliance activities for more than 19 entities annually, including review and preparation of various tax forms, foreign tax credit calculations, E&P tax pools, and Section 861 expense allocation.
- Manage U.S. international federal tax compliance, provision, and planning and assist with our foreign subsidiaries with ASC 740 reporting.
- Review quarterly and year-end ASC 740 financial reporting schedules, reconcile and review deferred tax schedules, and assist with 10-Q/K footnote preparation.
- Lead research of tax technical issues as they arise in the ordinary course of business or are identified during the development of tax planning alternatives and perform other tax research as needed.
- Manage local country tax filings and statutory compliance for a select number of foreign entities.
- Manage U.S. transfer pricing reporting requirements through coordination with outside consultants.
- Develop tax recommendations related to the company's expansion into new jurisdictions and/or business models, considering US, local, and cross-border tax considerations.
- Assist with the implementation of Pillar Two.
What You Will Bring:
- 7 years' combined experience with Big 4 and publicly held multinational companies, with at least 5 years of international tax experience preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and a professional designation, such as CPA or MST.
- Prior experience working at an enterprise software or SaaS environment is a plus.
- Deep knowledge of corporate tax operations, standards, and governance.
- In-depth knowledge of enacted and pending legislation that may impact Confluent's tax position, including BEAT, GILTI, OECD Pillar 2, etc.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to communicate and work with people at all levels in the organization.
- Proven ability to research complex tax issues and recommend effective solutions.
- Strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and the ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

This position has an annual estimated salary of $147,800 - $173,700, an annual bonus, and a competitive equity package.
