Managing Director, Incentive and Wealth Plans - SLC Management

This position will provide expertise, innovative thinking, and strategic leadership for design, management, and implementation of short-term, long-term incentive plans, carried interest, and co-investment plans, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic objectives and talent strategies.
In this key leadership role, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our company's compensation philosophy and programs to drive employee engagement, performance, and retention in the overall management of incentive programs.
You will partner closely with senior leadership, HR, cross-functional teams (Finance, Legal, Risk, Compliance, Treasury, etc.) and external vendors to develop, implement, and administer innovative, business-oriented solutions with measurable outcomes that optimize our financial investment. Deliver a modern, compelling, and integrated incentive plans that drive performance and reward long-term value creation.
What you will do:
- Lead and set the overall strategic direction for incentive and wealth plans that are market competitive while supporting overall business objectives, working collaboratively with senior business leaders and cross-functional teams on this strategy, providing advice and recommendations on competitive compensation.
- Build strong relationships with HR Business Partners, Business Leaders, and Cross-Functional teams. Provide consultation and partnership to understand their strategic priorities and business objectives; leverage this insight to develop and transform compensation programs to support our overall business objectives.
- Develop compensation financial and data models and tools to provide a platform for decision-making on a variety of business issues including headcount growth and staffing.
- Lead the design and implementation of performance metrics, goals, and measurement methodologies for incentive plans.
- Oversee the governance of incentive and wealth plans, stay abreast of relevant regulations, and ensure that incentive compensation plans and carried interest distributions comply with legal requirements, including tax regulations and securities laws.
- Work collaboratively with HR and Communications teams to develop and implement effective communication and change management plans to enhance the employee experience and perceived value of our programs. This may include conducting market research, internal analysis, establishing design principles, building design alternatives, outlining implications through modeling, determining employee and cost impacts, and creating communication and transition plans.
- Monitor external developments and trends impacting employee reward programs and proactively identify strategies and tactics to respond.
- Be a key member of M&A teams for HR due diligence evaluation and implementation.
What you will need to succeed:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
- 10+ years of experience in managing incentive, carried interest, and co-investments programs for a mid-size to large organization with 5+ years managing a direct staff.
- Overall, this role requires a combination of financial acumen, regulatory knowledge, strategic thinking, and strong communication skills to effectively design and manage incentive structures and carried interest administration within a financial organization.
- Strong understanding of executive compensation principles, long-term incentive plan design, regulatory requirements related to equity-based compensation (e.g., IRC Section 409A, SEC regulations, etc.), accounting standards, and tax implications related to incentive and wealth plan arrangements.
- Proven track record of designing and implementing effective incentive compensation plans that drive performance and align with business objectives.
- Strong financial analysis skills, with the ability to conduct complex financial modeling and sensitivity analysis.
- Deep understanding of private equity, hedge fund, and other alternative investment fund structures, including carried interest economics.
- Strong leadership skills, able to adapt to changing priorities and engage and develop a team to deliver on key objectives.
- Action-oriented, focused on execution, improving our employees’ experience through continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Highly collaborative team player, experienced in managing complexity and interacting with colleagues within the HR function, outside vendors, and brokers/consultants.
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
For roles based in NY, the salary range for this position is $185.9k - $278K.
We consider various factors in determining actual pay including your skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition to salary, this position is eligible for incentive awards based on individual and business performance as well as a broad range of competitive benefits.
