Location:
San Diego, CA with a hybrid work schedule (3 days per week in-office).
Role Summary:
The Revenue Director will oversee the daily functions of the revenue team to ensure best-in-class operations. This includes timely and accurate invoicing, data management, collections, and revenue recognition/reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process Documentation: Develop and maintain documentation of all revenue processes from quote to cash collection.
- Team Training: Ensure the team is expertly trained in billing, credit, revenue recognition, and collections.
- Rev Ops Participation: Actively participate in the Revenue Operations team.
- Project Leadership: Serve as a key leader in projects, focusing on billing systems and revenue recognition aspects.
Billing:
- Ensure timely and accurate billing of all customers across revenue streams.
- Serve as the SME on billing systems, ensuring uptime and data integrity.
- Collaborate with business leaders to define and provision new products and adapt billing processes to meet changing needs.
- Implement price increases, process credits, and manage associated approvals.
- Collections:
- Ensure timely collection of receivables, managing DSO and bad debt reserves.
- Train and manage the collections team on daily processes, escalations, and activities.
- Manage credits and write-offs.
Revenue Recognition:
- Oversee monthly revenue recognition accounting, including analysis and reconciliation of deferred revenue and contract assets in accordance with GAAP.
- Reconcile accrued revenue and associated AR.
- Provide journal entries monthly in line with the close calendar.
- Support audit requests with necessary documentation.
Reporting:
- Assist in providing data for customer cohorts and analyzing customer and segment-level trends.
Competencies for Success:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field. MBA or CPA preferred.
- 10 years of progressive revenue management experience, preferably in a SaaS or software company with a minimum revenue range of $100 million, and at least 5 years of managing mid-size teams.
- Strong experience with high-velocity billing platforms (e.g., Stripe, Zuora).
- Extensive knowledge of GAAP, particularly around revenue and contracts.
- Experience in audit/external validation.
- Team management experience, including billers and collectors.
- Familiarity with state and local tax is highly beneficial.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with experience in presenting key data to management.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
