Arch Investment Management (AIM) is the asset manager for Arch Capital Group Ltd. (Arch Capital or ACGL), a publicly-listed global insurer and reinsurer. AIM’s portfolio totaled $33 billion of AUM as of December 31, 2024.
AIM is searching for a highly motivated Senior Analyst to support the AIM Alternatives team. The Alternatives portfolio includes a broad range of strategies including private equity, private credit, and real assets totaling $8 billion in NAV and unfunded commitments. AIM Alternatives team seeks to deploy $1.5-2.5bn of new capital commitments each year. Team members will work across geographies and private market asset classes, including primary, secondary, and co-investment opportunities. A successful [Senior] Analyst will be given the opportunity to take on more individual ownership and grow as an investment professional within the Arch Investment Management team.
Responsibilities:
The Senior Analyst will:
- Support the Alternatives Portfolio Managers in all aspects of new investment due diligence and underwriting across private equity, private credit, and real asset strategies, including primary fund commitments and direct co-investments.
- Write clear and concise deliverables for senior stakeholders, including Investment Committee memos and Board presentations.
- Lead financial modeling exercises and valuation scenarios for potential investment opportunities.
- Track pipeline of investment opportunities from sourcing to execution, including the coordination of diligence and preparation of deliverables for senior stakeholders.
- Maintain knowledge and database of global macro and capital markets conditions to inform investment recommendations.
- Conduct research on investment strategies, sectors, and fund managers.
- Maintain and refine analytical tools for evaluating new investments, monitoring existing performance against relevant targets and benchmarks, and cashflow forecasting.
- Assist in the on-boarding process including processing and the negotiation of legal documentation required to consummate transactions.
- Prepare ad hoc portfolio analytics.
Minimum Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
- Excellent academic credentials, including a bachelor’s degree, preferably with a concentration in Economics, Finance, or similarly relevant subject.
- Ideal candidate would have 2-3 years of relevant work experience within financial services (investment banking, asset management, management consulting, etc.).
- Knowledge of capital markets including primary knowledge of private equity, private credit and/or real assets.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency with Excel, including prior financial modeling experience.
- Adept at authoring large volumes of written materials for senior stakeholders including investment committee memos and board presentations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to simultaneously manage multiple high-priority, time-sensitive priorities.
- Motivated self-starter who takes initiative and is able to work well independently and within a team.
- Progress toward the CFA or CAIA designation would be considered a plus but is not required.
For individuals assigned or hired to work in California, Colorado, Jersey City, NJ; New York State; and/or Washington State, the base salary range is listed below. This range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible.
$96,400 - $163,900
- Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs. The above range may be modified in the future.
